This is very, very new for me, so I really hope that everyone enjoys.It’s probably been noticed by now that I’ve been toying with my style (a lot) recently. The nurse!Jade doodle is the first lineart I’ve ever coloured using photoshop… and this is the first work in which I’ve attempted to draw the picture beforehand on CS2. Usually, I just jot down colors and smooth them out, then adding bits of lines and detailing as I go--- Which is generally why my digital work looks so wishy-washy.
This was just a test run of doing sharp lines and sloppy colour.
And to remind all of the FMA fans that I haven’t forgotten about you. <3
Roy, on the other hand, is a bit forgotten. I always felt sensationally sympathetic for what the character becomes. His dreams are crushed, his –eye- is crushed, his best friend dies, Edward is off in limbo, and even Alphonse ‘disappears’. Alone—isolated.
I originally wanted to have him resting on Edward’s coat, but that didn’t make sense (since Al was rather wearing it when he took off…) and the red was clashing a mite too much. ;_;
PS: I am aware the dates on Hughe's grave are probably wrong. I was too indolent to do the math.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it the left eye that Roy lost? Was that eye crushed or burned? I really don't recall seeing either way. Must have been pretty severe damage to his cheekbone as well, considering the patch covers a good quarter or more of his face. His remaining eye should also be a bit more angular, I think. His eyes and eyebrows seem to be all straight narrow lines.
I do like the idea of reminding everyone of Roy, and how much he's endured. He spent years putting up with Ed's short temper and sharp tongue, and going around cleaning up the messes the kid made, on top of losing his best friend and risking his life to finish off a homunculus that stuck a sword in his shoulder and only paused in slicing him up because Selim appeared.
Might there be more Roy art forthcoming?

You are most likely very correct on this point. Unfortunately, I am highly dyslexic; so I tend to take tic-for-tac and just pick an eye. I can't tell you how embarrassing it is to have shoved automail on Ed's left arm on more than one occasions. The eye socket was 'shattered', in face, by a bullet. I would assume that the resulting damage and 'clean up' was quite severe in terms of scarring. And I agree with you on the notion of it having to be more angular. Thank you for the firm critiqu, it is much appreciated. ^^

very different from your other styles.

very sketchy and splotchy.
all in all, i'd call it a successfull experiment.

It has been a very notable change of style, but I kinda feel the same essence as always.Still your personal touch hasn't disappeared. I think the high contrast and the powerful colors you give to your pieces is one of the main things that define your style

I really like the experimentation, the way the lines and sloppy coloring give more emphasis on the character's emotions (Roy is like a sad kitten...tsk tsk). I would like to comment only on one thing, the shirt thing; it seems a bit too short and he is leaning a bit on that angle so I found it strange~

...neh. Also. PS. I won't point out the date, cause I suck with the dates in FMA too.. So I have no clue how accurate that is. But one thing I do know.
..Roy always wears a white dress shirt under his uniform. I'm not sure how a toned down white would look.. So its no actual complaint, just pointing it out.
Perhaps the black would be better with this picture, I don't know.

He certainly does. ^_^ I changed the uniform on purpose for the sake of this picture. The top piece is way too short (as is the coat tail, which is also too dark), and I gave him a shirt a bit like Ed's in BBI. Hope you don't mind me fiddling too much. <3

But I figured that's what you did, just thought I should point out the shirt all the same. Your changes really do seem to work with the picture. I'm not too sure how well it would have turned out otherwise.
Though, Roy does have one complaint.. xD He's beginning to hate you for making him look so feminine.
..But to be honest, it looks good, and like I said.. I'm glad to see you're branching out on style. And its very easy to make Roy feminine, so ignore his complaint.
