This is really beautiful, I love the expression of your eyes, the light is just great and you are veeeery pretty. The only thing that I don't really like -but it's only in my opinion- is the frame.

Wow! Very well executed, nice exposure, good use of contrast with the face and hair. What course are you studying? I'm doing a National Diploma in Photography at the moment in Britain.

thank you very much for the comment, and for the fav.

i am doing a HND (higher national diploma - is that the same diploma as you?) in photography in a college in northern ireland but i am in my final year so it's all getting pretty exciting because this assignment that i am currently doing - my final major assignment as it's called - will then be exhibited in an art gallery for a month from may-june. so yeah, i am well chuffed at that obviously hehe.

do you like your course? what do you wish to do after it?

AbstraKtPhotography In reply to sunburntchaos [2007-04-04 22:52:04 +0000 UTC]

Nah the ND is below the HND, i beleive the ND is a level 3 course (college level) and the HND is level 4 (University).. at least thats what i think ^^,

Well im in my first year of my ND, i did a GCSE in photography before this and so far im loving it. Originaly i planned to move onto a BA in photography (level 4), but now i've found out my family is going back to South Africa my home land so im going too after my final year. after that im gna do a university level in cape town university I CANT WAIT! haha. real african wild life as a subject matter how cool.

my uncle is a professional photographer i hope to work with him.

how long was your course? mines a 2 year, im submitting bits and peices of my work i've done so far if you wana have a look?

ah wild life photography would just be amazing! one could say i am a tad jealous of you!

my course was two years, too. i had also planned to get my BA in photography too but i am hoping that i can get a job without having to do it because i am sick of being in college and i wanna get out there and earn some cash!

yeah i will have a look at your work.

yep, and how do you make a mark on an industry which has been totaly done before. im quoting a freind of mine who is a a graphics designer when i say: nothing is original, everythings been done, anything "new" is just a slightly modified version.

i do not believe that everything has been done already -- i browse around dA and find fantastic original works from young artists and photographers -- and most of them are women.

anyway, the process of evolution is just like that -- slow minute changes happening -- so slow and minute that you do not notice the changes. Even inventions tend to be like this -- they are more like innovations (improvement of something already in existence); but then, great moments arrive when great leaps are made and these moments are called revolutionary periods -- when everything changes completely and totally -- socially, politically, and culturally (think renaissance). Usually, dark periods precede these upheavals.

i have faith that this great leap is already happening, and that a new world is being born, especially in the hearts of young people like yourselves...

i wrote this some years back -- dedicated to the young people of today...

-----------------------

Remember... You are the future;
this future is how you are today.
It is how you aspire yourself to be;
as you want yourself to unfold.
as you will be revealed to yourself --
as you will be revealed to the world.

Yes, you are the future,
and it is here.

Your now is today.

-----------------------

that is very beautiful and very correct.... i read it over again and again and it just sticks with me. it's beautiful. i am going to take a note of it just to remember it in future; i hope you don't mind.

of course, you can have it -- it is yours.

By the way, here is a companion musing that goes with this one... and I am dedicating it to you -- but this time, be certain that I am talking about you in particular...

-----------------------

remember...

that you are more than what eyes can see,
maybe, even more that what you imagined you could be.

remember... that the sun rises
each single morning just for you;
the reason why...
the moon shines brightly every night,
the reason why...
the sky in summer is so clear and blue,
why the first snow flurry of winter is so pure and white,
and the reason why...
the leaves of autumn turn to a golden hue.

remember... that you are the reason why birds sing
and why... even flowers in the harshest of deserts bloom in spring.

Always remember... that everything has a reason for being
but that you are the meaning for everything.

remember...

oops, there's a typo...

maybe, even more THAN what you imagined you could be.

than instead of that...
