Olivia died after a long, drawn-out battle against Candice’s Froslass. (It literally used up all of its Psychics and Shadow Balls before I managed to K.O. it. She’s not the first starter I’ve ever lost but she’s the first Turtwig I’ve ever used, AND she was a female, so I got really attached to her.)

Mia (pink hair) and Olivia were really close, and Mia, being the literal god of emotion, kind of lost it in her grief. She shut down, turning everyone and anyone who touched her into an emotionless husk to mirror her own emotions.

Mesprit has the power to influence how pokemon feel both positively and negatively, but she has to touch them in order to do so. She rarely uses her powers though; it’s an unspoken rule among the gods and deities to avoid meddling in mortal affairs. Now, normally she covers up her skin to avoid this (see above), but after Olivia’s death she stopped caring.

Only Laurie, who is by nature mistrustful, kept his distance, sneaking off to avoid being with the group. Elise is the only person he willingly spent time with before this, and only because they’ve known each other since they were children.

He notices the changes in everyone around him, how they’ve become merciless and uncaring (even after one of their members, Finn, dies) and traces it back to Mia. Then Elise ends up dying, and Laurie loses it.

He gets in a fight with Mia. She reveals her true form and strips him of his emotions, turning him into a emotionless soldier like all the rest.

Things get better...eventually.

Azelf and Uxie and all the rest of the gods chastise Mia and make her return everyone's emotions. Laurie never forgives her though.

((On a lighter note, Laurie's full name is Laurence. In-game I named him Laurie cause it sounds more sassy but his full name his always been Laurence. No on calls him that though.))

Also, just to reiterate: Jasmine became the defacto leader after Olivia's death, since she was the most senior pokemon on my team in-game. Taking on that burden put a lot of weight on her shoulders, so she's stressed 24/7. I imagine that incomplete pic where she's sitting on the chair takes place right after Olivia's death.
