First off, wonderful use of monochromatic tones in this piece. They compliment one another. It also gives a very serene atmosphere to the painting. Also, the details are exquisite.

Now for the critique. Moving the dragon's head more toward the audience would increase the perspective greatly. Don't be afraid to hide some of his actual neck so that we will know that he is closer. Even making the forearm toward us a tad bigger would work to give it a sense that it is closer to us. Also, you could make the tail further from the head so that it would look to be behind him a bit more. I do love how you painted the whiskers with one trailing off in the distance and smaller. Also, I do love the hind feet, however, they were a bit lost when up against the white trees. I also enjoy the touch of each individual hair on the beast.

As for the background, there should be a small shadow of the dragon, even just a circle, in the snow and make him appear flying over the snow yet not so far off the ground. Also, I imagine he would kick up snow as he passed while flying, therefore maybe so specks of the snow in the air would't hurt. Even a few wispy clouds around the nostrils would add a nice touch for breath. With the trees, I would down play some of the snow, perhaps have some branches where they are bare or show a little snow falling off to accent the movement of the forest. Especially around his hind legs so that they would appear more noticeable and not lost within the background. Finally a few specks, a branch sticking up or so to show that even though the snow appears fresh that it had fallen over grass and twigs.

Overall this is a splendid piece full of harmony and detail. I love your imagination and the details within it. Gorgeous. Thank you for sharing.

Looks great!
Please bear with me - I've never used the critique feature and I want to do a good job. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/> (I'm also practicing my critique-skills)

I think the composition in this could do with a little work. The first thing I notice is the empty area below the dragon. I don't really know snow 'cause I live in Australia, but if I compare it to sanddunes you would expect some flaws here and there - pawprints, buried sticks. After a fresh fall of snow maybe fluffier areas over the settled snow? I'm honestly not sure how the photo would have looked. You would be the expert but those are my thoughts. I can understand why you prefer the cropped version for this reason.

Some tips for getting the dragon to 'come towards' the viewer - I would really recommend sketching some face-on pictures and practice with foreshortening. I can see what you were aiming for but the dragons pose seems a bit awkward. You could try turning his neck/ head more toward the viewer. If he's looking our way then his attention is our way - he's heading our way! I don't think his head is too big - especially if it's closest to us.

Lastly I feel he doesn't quite sit with the background. You've got lovely lighting and shadow on the snow but I can't connect it to the dragon. Some interaction with the bg might help - if the curve below his legs is close to the snow maybe a 'puff' of snow to show the air pressure as he passes? Or some deeper shadow.

I know some great positives are needed now! And I would really like to say - I love the background and environment you've created for this character - the two suit each other well. The stripes on the dragon are also a nice touch and gives me the impression of a predator. The background detail is stunning! I love seeing the latest design you come up with - you have imaginative dragons and I love seeing them.

I hope my critique helps C: Thanks fer reading all that. Please don't be alarmed by the stars - I'm positive I rate things like that more harshly then most.

the background is drawed almost exactly like the picture, so i will disagree with that part xD

Yup i agree with that, i should change his pose before i started coloring and shading, but i was too lazy xD

Im not sure if i agree/not agree with that part if he suites with the bacground.. I think the colors fit in, but the shading might not be so good :/

But thankyou very much for the cretique! I really apriciate it!

The dragon itself is beautifully stylized.
It's shape seems close to perfect especially the head. The anatomy, eg the head, ears, horns eye, mane and tufts of hair seem stunning and really give an amazing wow factor to the art.
Although the left forarm seems sliiiightly odd, it's bareley noticeble (Spelling? D: sorry) The markings/pattern/design is awesome. I love the originality of the dragons design. Nice long whiskers and feathery tail which is definatley one of my favourite aspects of this picture.

Now for the stunnnnning background.
The view distance reaching the hills and mountan peaks is most definatley a great landscape for this 'species' of dragon should I say?
But. On the ONLY down side, I have to say, although the trees are good. They're slightly 'too' lumpy. I understand what you were going for, but it appeared slightly overdone... Sorry DX
Anyway, please let me know if you don't agree with any of that e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>
Great job once again e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h… " width="15" height="13" alt="" title="Heart"/>
