Argh, I haven't posted anything in a while... So here's another alien of mine that's been in my head. Instead of my usual references with over-crowding of information on one picture, I'm just going to post it below. Screw it. :V

Varcaeran
Home Planet: Iillio
Life Span: 140-150~ (Earth) years

Iillio is a large planet, compared to the neighbor planets in the system. It has various weathers, winters being the shortest and not having too much snow. The planet is vibrant and considered very "green". Two continents are separated by a large ocean, but are linked by a single line of mountains. These spanning mountains, the Varruga Mountains, have been formed into a sort of bridge by the Varcaeran for easier access between the two continents. A slightly smaller planet nearest to Iillio, named Hacio, has been colonized by the Varcaeran. Though it took many years, Varcaeran managed to change Hacio's atmosphere, surface and ecology to be similar to their home planet. When the planet was finally officially colonized, workers and their families were sent there to start building. It was not too long until military bases were erected and the Caerellian Empire took Hacio for its own.

With Varecaeran, Iillio is also home to a smaller, less technologically advanced race called Datasii. Datasii had almost gone extinct due to genetic reasons until Varcaeran offered help. Datasii usually are hired by Varcaeran as farmers, mercenaries or hard labor workers. Varcaeran are a military-heavy race with a large population. Military is the focal point of the entire race. The government runs as a monarchy, ruled by an Emperor. Currently under rule of the Caerellian Empire, the entire planet of Iillio is dominated by the Varcaeran. The Caerellian Empire is not only large and strong, but also technologically advanced. They have developed tanks, energy-efficient machinary, space/land/water vehicles and effective directed-energy weaponry.

While Iillio is controlled by the Caerellian Empire, on the planet Hacio a rebellion against the Emperor took place. Now simply called the Hacio Rebels, Hacio has been separated from the Empire by the workers and civilians that lived many generations on the planet. Caerellian soldiers on Hacio were forced to either join the rebellion or die.

Varcaeran males are required to take military training for four years as soon as they complete their academic learning requirements. Females are not allowed in the military. Once the three years are complete, Varcaeran may choose to stay as a soldier or become a citizen (so they may continue a family business, farm, etc.). This option may be denied in the event that more soldiers are needed. Three in five males choose to stay in the military.

The military has a sort of caste system of the many different branches. Varcaeran of every rank are required to have the branch symbol they are in tattooed to their face.

Varcaeren males are commonly larger than the females. Varcaeran eyes are able to dialate from circles to slits, granting them view of wide areas. Though they can see more, they cannot see very long distances, similar to humans. Males also have longer and more rigid
horns on top of their heads, as wells as a pair of tusk-like horns that extend from the back of their heads towards their jaws. Varcaeran have extremely dense bones, especially in their legs. Their skulls are also very sturdy and thick, males more so than females. Females have long, thick hair on their heads just behind their horns. Males have a lot less hair that comes in small, lengthy patches. Though these tendrils are wrapped in bands and then covered by segmented tubes, which is then held in place via a screw-like contraption implanted under their skin. Females do something similar, but only wrap their hair about six inches down the length of their hair. This "hair binding" is a long, ongoing tradition in the Varcaeren people. Another common tradition is piercings of various body parts. More commonly found in males than females, it is said to originate from an old Varcaeran ritual in which males would test their pain tolerance for war by slicing their flesh, piercing themselves with various objects or breaking limbs. Though this ritaul is long dead, piercings with rings and bars is seen as attractive and customary. Modern soldiers usually keep their accessories at home, it has become common in Varcaeran training camps for the training officers to literally rip piercings from soldiers as demonstration.
