Description Very tiny and simple animation of a cutesy Gengar. I'm practicing animation. It's difficult for me to make larger, more detailed animations because my laptop can't handle much. I have a netbook with one gig of RAM, and that doesn't go very far when I'm using heavy programs like Toon Boom Studio. The program goes unresponsive a lot, and has to reset. I'm sure you can relate; losing all of your work, going back to your last save because all-of-the-sudden the program just freezes....
It's a little saddening. But... that's why you save periodically!
It also took me a long time because I don't have the shortcut keys for this program memorized yet.

Little fun fact, did you know the cartoon Johnny Test is also done in Toon Boom Studio?

Enjoy. =]

Aw man, if I knew Johnny Test was done in that program I'd be turned off from it, personally xD

Gengar here is cute :3 I do hope things get better with the data management and stuff cause these look like cute fun practice and it would suck if unresponsive programs made it a big hassle. :c

I really hate the Johnny Test cartoon style, too. It's really lame. But the fact that an aired cartoon series on TV is made from this program makes me want to use it / try it. I wish I knew of a more lightweight and user friendly animation program, though. Pencil isn't as good as it seems when you start using it. It's freeware, though, so that's understandable. Toon Boom isn't freeware at all.
And thanks! Yeah, I'm hoping to manually upgrade my netbook's RAM to 2 gigs when I come around to it. Sometimes "Game Booster" also helps. It just stops unnecessary processes so that games and other programs can run easier, but it can only go so far, you know?

Ah I get what you mean, when you put it that way, yeah it does make the software seem more impressive. How do you feel about Flash? I don't know if you've used it or anything, or if it's not suitable for the stuff you want (I know it lags really badly sometimes...) but just wondering how you felt. Interesting about the game booster thing hehe, I might have to use that myself for like games or something haha :3 good to know it works for stuff like this too though.

Flash is .swf (shock wave flash) files. Toon Boom Studio can output as .swf. What I did here instead to make it a .gif animation was I selected "output image sequence" and selected the .png format. It took all of the frames, and exported them as individual .png images in its own folder, and they're named to go in order of the animation. Then I opened up a gif animator program, selected all of the frames, and exported it as a .gif. It is easier to make it a flash animation, AND I can add audio, but gifs can be saved, and used for say, avatars on forums. Which is exactly what I used this for. xD
I just wish my computer didn't have so many compatibility issues with the program. It's pretty glitchy, and it freezes up on bigger projects.
