Description
Emory beamed up at Red as he placed the flower crown on her head. The bright pink flowers stood out in her jet black hair and meshed oddly well with her piercing red eyes. Her expression remained blank but Emory smiled even wider and asked excitedly
"Do you like it? It looks so pretty on you!"
Red gently touched the crown and a voice echoed from deep within her
'Don't get attached. The boy is not your child, he is a means to an end."
Emory's smile fell slightly, afraid she was going to take it off but instead, her hand gently fell to her lap and she nodded silently. The boy's eyes grew wide and sparkled with happiness as he jumped joyfully and told the spirit
"Yay! Now you won't be alone!"
Red cocked her head slightly, confused at his statement and she asked flatly
"What do you mean?"
Emory pointed at the flowers and said in a quieter, gentler voice
"You told me that you're alone most of the time so I wanted to give you something so that you won't feel lonely even if we're apart."
The gentleness with which he said this was almost painful to the parasite but she couldn't show it. Nobody, not even her kin had ever shown her even a sliver of such kindness.
Yet this human child showed her a kindness that many humans didn't even show to each other.
Despite her inhuman and monstrous appearance, it didn't seem to matter to him.
He didn't want her to be lonely.
She allowed her better judgement to be clouded for a moment as she gently put a hand on Emory's head and said quietly
"Thank you."

I'm breaking out my watercolor pencils again and giving them another whirl~ I'm obviously not perfect with them but I'm trying. I was actually very pleased with Red's skin though cause I somehow managed to give it that...dead tone. I am aware I made Emory's arm too short but he's such a sweet bean so that makes up for it right? XD Him and his dorky bowl cut
He's breaking her heart...
I'd love to know what you guys think of this ^^ Would you like to see more watercolor work from me?
Also the leaves and flowers in the corner were just to add some extra color XD
