I really love Adventure Time's interpretation of magic. It actually holds to the truth that knowledge will only increase one's suffering.

Seriously. She was Simon's last hope. They both never deserved this. But she strayed too close to the absolute truth of magic, and was caught in the deep end of the pool. "You forgot you floaties," says the crab.

Look on the bright side-unlike Simon, Betty still seems to retain her memory and identity. Meaning she's still able to try and fix him, it's just she'll mess stuff up in a crazy way
