Description
Frankly, I am appalled that many Americans cared more about Whitney Houston and the Grammys and didn't seem to care what's going on in Greece. Many Americans don't seem to care what's going on at all in the rest of the world at all or what people in other countries are having to go through and it's sad, is this really what America has become? A nation of uncaring sheep who can't see, believe, or care anything unless their TV and government tells them to?Do you see the problem here?

Why would Americans care? They're economy is doing great, what should they do about protests in Germany, its the business of Germany, Greece is in EU, so its the problem of EU, Syria is in civil war and its the problem of Arab League, UN and maybe EU, although USA wants to intervene in Syria but EU and Russia and UN other oppose this so USA can't do anything.Β
Why should all the problems of the world be the problems of USA? Let the Americans be happy and do what they want, is their government that can do things, Americans can only approve or protest in case if they don't want something for their government to do.Β

Well, I'm not trying to flame, I'm just informing you, I'm an American who is considerably informed and does care. I did not watch the Grammy's. I'm a teenage girl and I actually want to learn more about other countries, and knowing these troubles and how they will deeply effect many, many things, short and long term instead of what color to dye my hair or how cute someone looked in a dress. Just throwing this out there. o3o

And by "fighting for their very freedoms", I meant the people in Syria and Greece are fighting for their freedoms. I reread that and thought it was a little unclear, so just clearing it up. ^^

Well I'm not talking about all Americans as I am an American myself, one who also didn't watch the Grammy's and was much more focused on what was going on in Greece and Syria. There is a good portion of Americans who do care what goes on in their country and others, I'm not denying this. These are the Americans I respect and the ones who make me proud of the nation I live in. But we also cannot deny that the majority of Americans simply don't care, they're blissfully ignorant. They are happy believing what their government tells them to and don't care about anything their government doesn't tell them care about. These are the Americans that make me shake my head and make me feel ashamed of my nation. It's truly saddening that much of our nation is too lazy to give a damn about anyone else.
This graphic was more directed to the latter Americans, the ones who are too lazy and brainwashed to care. This graphic was really to try and show how uncaring and shameful many Americans have become. The ones who are more concerned about what "hot" thing celebrities are wearing rather than the people dying for their very freedoms. By the way, I'm happy to see another member of the youth caring. It's rare to find someone like you. (:

It's not so much 'not caring', as it is not informed.
I believe it also has to with some isolationist principles some of us developed what with that war on so-called terror we started.
It's generalizing but I tend to agree. Many of us Americans are fairly lazy when it comes to being properly informed on world events.
In behalf of those of us who do, I apologize for those who don't.

Hmm, you have a point there. Many people are vastly uninformed because our media is failing us and so many people choose to not seek out the truth or look deeper than what the media allows us to know.
