A father OC idea for Sonic, Sonia and Manic and a husband for Queen Aleena from Sonic Underground.
(Every Queen needs a King right?)
It was a few days before Sonic, Sonia and Manic were born. Vortex was assigned for a battle with some of Robotnik's robots. One of his ships was gonna crash land on Mobius. And it was gonna blow up, he had to fly it up and then BOOM!!!

He was nearly dead, but he didn't die. But everyone in he city, especially Aleena all assumed he didn't survive. Aleena took his so called death the hardest, but became happy again with the kids.

As for Vortex, while he was underwater after the explosion, some of Robotnik's bots found him and made him to a cyborg with a mask. And worst of all, Robotnik's machine erased his memories of his life and made him think he's just a Minion that works for Robotnik. So he doesn't remember about Aleena or his kids. He never even met them, cause they were not born yet.
