Description
Conan the barbarian. I drew/inked this when I was around 14. I used a picture the size of a thumbnail in an old comicbook ...bc way back then I didn't have the internet...I think the orginal artist is Claudio Castellini.Related content

I didn't even know who did the original...It was this tiny pic in a comic when I was pretty young. Yeah, I do admire his work though...now maybe more haha.

Looks almost as good as what a 20 year old artist would do, but 14? impressive

Thanks! It took me a while to complete it because of the ink I was using. I think I went through 2 or 3 pens.

Several pens may have died in the making of the picture, but the final result was worth it in the end.
I'm trying to decide if I was quite as good at copying things when I was 14... this is a pretty good example of how good you are at figuring out what things should look like compared to the original (especially considering this was taken from a tiny picture)
I drew Dragonball Z characters for while when I was about 15, and classmates would ask me to draw ones for them, but I usually said no, I found creating my own characters was more fun rather than just copying designs for people... I should hunt down some of my old stuff, it's always interesting to see how much we improve, and it can be funny too.

You're right! haha it is pretty fun to see how you've progressed over the years. Speaking of classmate's requests. I would draw or sell my pictures to people for snack money lol...Only like 15-25 cents a pic.

True, it is amusing when people keep asking requests, but it can be annoying especially when they expect freebies. at high school I only had one person willing to actually pay me for a picture, he thought that one day I'd be famous... (sorry to whoever he was, but I'm not famous yet...) so he thought the smart thing to do would be to own an original of mine, ironically I did a picture of a big warrior dude with a sword, similar to this picture you did, (but your one is better), got $20, I didn't really work that much on the thing since $20 wasn't much incentive... hahah

Not much into Conan - but I'll do my best.
I definately see the effort u put into the details. Since its some time ago you've done the inks, you probably or definately'll see that majority of the outlines are very shaky, and some lines were kinda bleeding out(see axe, upper blade, too much ink used or paper-issue).
After all the picture represents the characters mood very well.

It's definitely easy to see flaws in this one, especially when you fully enlarge the pic. I remember going through a few pens on this one. lol. Thanks for checking it out.

Dude, these are some crazy inks. Good stuff.
I guess I'm amazed cuz ever since I was 12ish I've been trying to get the hang of inking and it never happened, haha.

Wow, this is pretty nice. Even if it was copied from a thumbnail sized drawing. I must say, that I have a lot more appreciation for this kind of thing than I used to, now that I'm using ink myself.
