To cut back on costs, some prisons are using a new method to make sure inmates can't escape or cause problems.

When a prisoner arrives, he is stripped naked, a hose is inserted into his ass, and he is pumped full of a viscous organic substance that bloats his body up like an overblown Sumo wrestler. Most men are blown up with 1.5 tons of the filling, but some larger or more muscular prisoners receive 2 tons.

Soon the prisoner is swollen too big and heavy to move, and he can safely be held in a low security building with minimal staff. The cost savings are huge, more and more prisons are turning to the inflated inmate incarceration method.
