yes. being thin is okay. and it's okay to want to be thin.. it's just when it gets so out of control that the desire to be thin effects you in more ways than just what you eat. when it makes girls (or guys) depressed and causes problems with school.. family.. friends.. everything. oh yeah, and your health. being thin/wanting to be thin can ruin somebody's life.

I totally agree with that .. but I was talking about normal teens that are aware that too much is not healthy .. I like your picture and your idea .. it's just that ppl have the tendance to criticize a person when she/he is on a diet .. it's not like that's a wrong thing .. I hate people that start staring at me when I say I'm on a diet [generally talking]

my girlfriend has a pretty bad eting disorder...though for other reasons than vanity...well..actually it is vanity but yeah...she does it because apparently its the only way she feels good about herself in a world where shes imprisoned by her parents and therapist...

Scary statistics.
Having suffered from some kind of eating disorder (never went to have it checked out because I obviously didn't want anybody to convince me to gain weight etc..that's part of the disorder), I think that this is a really great way of expressing it. And that being skinny isn't really all that. I still watch my weight a little too much but I'm on the way of getting better. Anyhow. Love this photo.

Hell, I think this is one the most amazing photos you've taken, it has such a powerful and confronting concept, and kudos to you for executing it so beautifully and wonderfully. It's such a powerful image representing the tragedy that so many young girls believe they need to be thinner to be beautiful; I'm so lucky that I'm one of the people who are almost always comfortable with their weight =]

This is great. I agree that the repetition of the image is directly related to the disorder. It's the first thing I thought of seeing the photo.
My senior research paper was on pre-pubescent eating disorders. It's mindblowing how many little girls and even boys have disordered views on food intake.
