Aah, finally someone has asked about Denmark; in my alternate reality, Denmark doesn't exist per se, but the people and the culture are still present - as you can see, the are of what would in our reality be called southern Norway is waaay elongated. That area is called Jutland and it is where the ethnic Danes (who are a part of the Scandinavian State of course) live. I basically wanted to create a clear line between Central and Northern Europe and wanted to unite the three ''scandinavian'' peoples into one single coherent entity. But if you look at the actual history, it doesn't differ that much. Prior to 1397, when the Kalmar Union was founded, the Danes, Norwegians and Swedes basically fought against one another as they did in the actual timeline of actual history. 1397 - 1586 was a time of internal crises, as many lesser nobles wanted to take the throne. In 1586 the royal family finally established a coherent rule and the Kalmar Union was officially renamed Scandinavia. From 1586 - 1721 was the time of the Scandinavian empire, when Scandinavians (now fully absorbed into the united Scandinavian identity) tried to conquer the Imperial Russian territory of Finlandia (the so called Great Nordic War); this failed miserably but Finland did gain independence from Russia in 1721 as a direct consequence of the Nordic War. From 1721 onwards, Scandinavia basically decided not to dream of Empire any longer and decided to care more about internal unity. They did establish several trading outposts and colonies in the Scandinavian West Indies, India and the East Indies, but these ventures ultimately failed and not a single colony survived for more than a few decades. During the Napoleonic war, Scandinavia tried to remain neutral but eventually joined the coalition against France and got a hold of Iceland in 1815 as a reward (up until then Iceland was a mostly isolated nation, albeit sovereign (as you can see, I deleted Greenland as well)). From 1815 - 1896 you had the Iceland crisis, where Scandinavia tried to impose its rule but this ultimately failed; in 1897 Scandinavia signed the Kobenhavn accords, giving Iceland full sovereignty. As you can see, Scandinavia was neutral through the Great War but acted as an economic ally of the Germany and Austria-Hungary, trading with them because they believed the Entente blockade was a war crime. Today, Scandinavia is one of the richest countries in the world and one of the countries with the most strict migrant policy, with virtually no applicants due to strict laws and the fact that Christianity is the sole religion allowed by the people. I suggest that you look at the map which shows the world prior to the Great War; there you'll see the outline of the Jutland province.
