Basic Backstory
Gargoylians are anthropomorphic gargoyle inspired creatures. They're soul function is to ward off evil spirits and protect the things it cherishes. They often form relationships with other species and come to guard them as well as their own. The main way they ward off spirits is by scaring them away, naturally to do this they use screeches and sometimes spells to help them fight them off. They'll often have numerous arms in different shapes and sizes to make them look scarier.

The second thing they may do is consume the spirit, this happens inside a large opening on the stomach, which leads to a faster tract to digestion, this opening often looks like a mouth and is only present when they need it. The opening can also be used to contain small goods, some, more curious Gargoylians, will procure random oddities in this opening and save them for later, while the opening is used for storage it will be present until the stored goods are taken out. Gargoylians lay eggs and both parents will take turns storing them inside their stomach openings.

Gargoylians have statue forms made from rock, crystal or metal and sometimes a mixture, this is what determines the colours and decorations of their horns and claws. Gargoylians are immortal beings, but when they are damaged cuts do not fade, but instead seep with auras, smoke or flame, they may also loose limbs but these will normally float alongside the Gargoylians by magic, they can still hurt from initial impact however the pain does not persist. Gargoylians may only 'die' from either being separated into small pieces (not enough concentrated magic to pull back together) or by choosing to remain 'forever still' as they transform into a gargoyle statue and never transform back~
