If this is directed at me, the most tips I can give you are based on just lineart.
Keep in mind that many people have different ways of drawing such as drawing on paper and then transferring to digital. Mine is usually all on digital.
Always sketch on different layers. The first layer should have the bare basic shapes of the person and background sketched in a light gray pen. The layer on top of that should have the details sketched in a slightly darker gray. Another layer on top of that should refine the details and the sketches until you have what you consider to be decent. Finally, you do the lineart.
Seeing as colors aren't my forte, the most I can tell you is to form a layer under the official linework and color from there. Color coordination is key.
