Description i learned how to photograph with strobes for the first time today this is anna lagman, one of the models our com 127 class used

i must admit it's pretty tricky getting the light and shadows right, and i'm only starting to get the hang of it. also, i didnt have much control over how the umbrellas were positioned -- our instructors did i wish i asked if i could move them around, haha! no edits were made except for some sharpening, the white border, and the watermark

comments on how i could improve would be much appreciated.

I also like this more between the two.

The sharpening might not have been needed...

I'm more concerned about getting the settings right than shadows and angles. My camera doesn't even have a built in flash so I'm lost

i shot this in manual, so i made sure to get the settings right before everything else that is always key in taking photographs naman talaga

my concern about the shadows etc. is secondary, 'cause i've never shot with strobes and triggers before

im surprised a pricey camera like yours has no built in flash

Your very good to shot in manual!
Some people just go around on automatic eh... I've heard so many cases of people going around with SLRs costing more than 50k php and they know nothing.

One funny experience was when I was in Europe, this guy asked with a Canon 1Ds Mark 2 asked me to help him adjust the AF point which was locked... he couldn't even navigate through the menu.

Normal rule of thumb is that you don't use the camera's built in flash. Instead you get your own external one.

yeah, i almost never use my flash except during rare instances that call for a fill flash i make sure the compensation is cranked way low though, so the lighting isn't super harsh.
