Y'okay, so... I think Digimon Tri kinda broke me a little bit...
***SPOILERS AHEAD***
From "Reunion" episode one I was totally freaking out about the Season 02 kids' safety! And in just the opening, man! Augh! Thankfully someone pointed out to me that, "Well, whatever happened to them, they can't be dead, right? Since they have to be around for the 02 epilogue?" I sighed with relief and decided not to worry about them anymore.
Then the ending of "Coexistence" happened and I was now determined not to be fooled the same way! There was no chance that I was going to even indulge the idea that they had killed off Tai! I was so sure of this fact that I came up with this little doodle right here. >>> superherogeek13.deviantart.com…
After the finale episode "Our Future" came through this month, I suddenly found my little comforting joke hit me like a ton of bricks. "The Definitly NOT Dead Club." They sure were alright! But only because of Mr. Nishijima! He only ever wanted to protect the digidestined and he did so with his dying breath! Daigo!!! WHY!?!?
And after watching his teacher sacrifice his life, Tai had to not only shake himself out of his grief, but then drag all four of 02 kids to the hospital, and then go and save the rest of the digidestined too! (And that all just sorta happens off-screen, no big.)
As Tai was transported back to the human world and splashed down on the beach, he knew that Mr. Nishijima was gone. He climbed out of the pod and half ran/half swam out to free the others. They'd been cut off from life support and were hardly even breathing as Tai dragged each of them to shore. As he held Davis' limp form in his arms, the last of the four, he felt his tears streaming across his face with the water and sweat.
Tai is so freaking amazing, I love him so much!
So yeah, I had to draw this to get the image out of my head and cope with it a little more. Crying my eyes out while sketching this was actually extremely therapeutic. Every time I zoomed out from my detail work there were tears...
