a bit too dark maybe? perhaps it was intended but i cant help wondering if it would have been a bit better with somewhat brighter colors

everything is always intended with brighter colors it would have been an entirely different photo with an entirely different meaning.

well, no doubt you are way more talented photographer than me, but i think "everything is always intended" would be a too-strong statement... you know sometimes, the photo doesnt turn out to be quite what you had in mind... that's what i thought when i saw this one.. but anyways...
agreed that it would have been a different pictured, just wondered merely...

well i guess what i mean is that i wouldn't post a photo that wasn't exactly as i wanted or intended it. there are plenty that don't turn out, but they never see the light of day

which lens did you use? The tokina 12-24 or the Sigma 12-24?
really well done.

I love the shawdows from the clouds covering the bridge, and how there is no people until further down, and of course the symmetry. It always looks good if done right, well done!

What an amazing shot wants to make me go there sooner then spring break 06. The thing that really makes this shot for me is the overcast skies.

I like how it seems really elongated compared to other shots I've seen. There are some interesting elements to this shot especially regarding the lighting. It feels as if a storm is brewing creating an dark atmosphere although towards St Pauls the sky and the buildings bellow are illuinated. My favourite aspect has to be the pidgeon sat on the bridge. How clever of it to perfectly aline itself in your shot so beautifully

Wow, how on earth did you get that bird to sit exactly in the middle like that?? Great greys in this; I love the stormy mood it evokes. A gorgeous day for photographs.

thanks! sometimes it's easier to wait for everything to come into alignment by itself before shooting, rather than trying to direct it in other words, the pigeon walked to that spot, which made it the right time to press the button.

only-zuul In reply to superkev [2005-08-18 00:41:28 +0000 UTC]
I still think you have some kind of jedi photographer mind control...."yesssss, pigeon....this is the spot you wish to walk to.....you do not wish to fly away....yesssss, pigeon" with a wave of your hand.
Don't go spoiling you as my ideal photographer, ok??

nice shot! and re. the cloudy sky... of course you cannot decide on it, but photos with this kind of sky always leave me wondering whether a "standard" blue sky would have been better or worse... what do you think?

the clouds totally make the image, its give the atmosfer of the piece

superkev In reply to bonz-paolo [2005-08-17 14:52:53 +0000 UTC]
i think the blue sky would have been boring. the only reason i took this shot is because the sky was so dramatic
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
bonz-paolo In reply to superkev [2005-08-18 08:12:18 +0000 UTC]
yes, the sky is surely dramatic, it's making the difference between a dull "postcard" and a unique shot!
still i don't know... i like a lot the sky, but the bottom part of the picture does not "fill" me... maybe it is that colors with cloudy skies are less saturated?

Lovely photograph, the way the path leads the eye to the cathedral is excellent. Also the dark clouds give this a real sense of atmosphere
