Oh my God, it's actual art. The world may actually be ending. Or, as is more likely, I could be done school and therefore have a life a again. Amazing, that.

Anyhow, the picture. As is, apparently, an annual tradition for me now, I'm re-reading my Harry Potter books again. Obviously this means I'm going to draw fanart, because I can't help myself. Like so many people I'm a big Marauder fan and I have this extensive series of fanfic (no, it's not online, no it will never be online - I write them for fun only and as a result they aren't exactly stellar reading material.) that more or less involves the four original Marauders plus Lily and co. (the "and co." belonging to me) tramping around Hogwarts getting into near death situations multiple times a year.

In this particular scene, Lily, James, Sirius, Remus and Melody (Mel's mine for the record. Er... she's the blond for those non-HPers) end up in the Forbidden Forest at an inopportune moment. In the the HP world, green glowing things are very rarely good. In fact, unless you're talking about Lily/Harry's eye colour, green in general isn't good. Seriously. Also, Lily's on the ground 'cause she took a header over a tree root and cracked her ankle. People are always breaking things in those books, so I thought I'd keep with tradition. No really. So now James gets to be all manly and protective (this is the end of sixth year, so Lily I figure Lily doesn't hate him anymore seeing as how, according to canon, they started dating the very next year.) while Lily gets to feel really stupid. Of course, she's going to save everyone's necks in about two minutes, so she should be feeling better about herself by then (according to the Fanfic in My Head anyway).

I'm in the process of tweaking my drawing style, and I'm actually really happy with how this turned out (although I'm still not 100% happy with Remus's design. He's my favourite character, so obviously he's going to give me the most trouble.). I also wanted to try a real cel-style colouring job, since I haven't done one in forever and I'm rusty. I did the background as a seperate layout, which was something entirely new for me. For the record, I now know what class is going to be the bane of my existance next year.
