Ah, back in the good old days when the 2000's decade started, Paper Mario was one of the cartoony games that received highly positive reviews from critics and fans alike. It gained a lot of sequels like The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario.Super Paper Mario like was a mix of 2D and 3D, it wasn't that special from the RPG formula, but was a great game.
But when Paper Mario 3DS was announced, everyone was excited for it and as of 2012, people started to complain about the gameplay. I know that the Paper Mario fanbase has started to change ever since the game came out and no one really likes it. Just because you have to buy stickers to use them for attacks doesn't mean that the game is good. Almost all the characters are Toads and peopleΒ criticized the characters as well like Kersti. As for Paper Mario: Color Splash, people just complain again and again about the same style that Sticker Star used and no one really cares about it. There are far worse games than Hotel Mario and Mario Teaches Typing.
If you don't like it, then don't play it. But never judge a book by its cover! If Mario Party and Mario Tennis got their same gameplay formula back, why not Paper Mario get the treatment? I wouldn't expect a Mario and Luigi game to come on Switch ever sooner.

Besides it's still a much better game than Super Mario Sunshine, which was rushed and had a lot of content cut out, glitched a lot, and nearly replaced the Koopalings with Bowser Jr.

Probably because they didn't want it to look like a generic RPG, still better than when the cut the Koopalings from Super Princess Peach, and replaced then with generic bosses.

I never really played Sticker Star because I don't have a 3DS, but I have played Color Splash and I liked the game a little bit but I still want a return to form. I really hope Nintendo listens to us and realizes that people want a remake of the OG Paper Mario and a TTYD Remaster.
