No offense to… whoever this could possibly appeal to, but I cannot understand for the life of me why SMG4 keeps trying to make Mario and Meggy’s relationship akin to siblings, because for me it just doesn’t work. I honestly don’t think I can name a time where I’ve seen them as a sibling relationship and I’ve liked it

It makes both characters look overly immature and not in a cute way like Mabel and Dipper from Gravity Falls or a funny way like the waterson siblings in TAWOG. It’s what what I think is responsible for the awful characterizations in 2021-2022, Mario being more of a jerk to look immature (in the annoying way) to justify looking like a little brother, and Meggy to be overly hot headed and a star child so she’ll look like an older sister in comparison, which was especially apparent in “Mario Goes Fishing” and that road-trip episode. It makes them together look less likable to me. I’ve been following SMG4 for a long time now, since 2018 at least, and I don’t see how they progressed into a sibling relationship, it felt so sudden when they started acting like this during 2021, and not in a good way

If I’m being frank, the only difference I see between them as a dynamic duo like in 2019, and them as a sibling relationship in current, is that now they’re less friendly towards each other and fight a lot, which goes against what made their dynamic appealing in the first place completely: that Meggy actually likes Mario’s silliness and he can make her laugh, that she’s probably the one person in the room who’s not going to give him crap for everything, she even stands up for him on occasion. Now? She’s probably the first person I’d expect to give him crap for everything

Now, y’all can say I’m just an MxM shipper who’s salty over my ship not coming true, or maybe that I’m another OG SMG4 fanatic, and… sure, whatever helps ya cope, but my opinion that they’d be a good couple comes second to my general enjoyment. I don’t NEED them to be an item like Lumity of Axol x Melony, at the end of the day as long as the characters I love are still characters that I can love, I’ll be perfect satisfied. But this? This is something I cannot deal with, I hope you all understand where I’m coming from
