Aw I'm sure you definitely can do it!
What I did for shading isn't even that complex anyway; All I did was find a somewhat dark color (i used a dark red-pink color here), set the layer to multiply, and slapped on some colors using the watercolor brush
As for lighting, I did the same thing, except the color was a lighter red-pink color and the layer was set to add.
Afterward, I just messed with the opacity of the layers so it wasn't obnoxiously dark or light

I'm sure whatever art program you're using has these kinds of features on layers (You're using uhh,, IbisPaint right?), most do! (unless it's ms paint lmao)

Nope. Iβm using an app called SketchBook.Β
Im not sure there is a watercolor option. But Iβll have to experiment.Β

Ohhh-
You should try out IbisPaint! I don't use it too much but it's pretty good! It has a watercolor brush (though you'll need to unlock it by either paying or watching an ad), but also has the multiply and add layer features! (it's available on the app store for whatever apple device you're using lol)

It takes a little while to get used to a new program, but hey it's really your choice if you wanna switch or not!
It's just a little recommendation from me~
