i've done a *lot* of research on the subject, and you hit the mark. the best generic word i've found for african dragons is nondoΒ
Nondo are legless dragons. There are many species of Nondo in Ubantu: Β Crowing Cobras, Ikonkola, Lau, Nyand Badigui. Nondo are warm-blooded, viviparous and much more intelligent than reptiles. Also unlike snakes, they have the teeth of carnivores fully capable of tearing and rending flesh.
i'd guess yours is a Lau
Lau are aquatic Nondo that prefer rapids and waterfalls. Their ability to function in whitewater environments is nearly perfect, perhaps even magical. There are famous Lau associated with all major waterfalls in Ubantu. Lau have the typical red crests common to all Nondo, which extend into a serrated ridge that runs half the length of the animal's back. The smallest Lau are 10m, the largest known from the Mutarazi Falls at 50m. Rather than wattles, Lau typically have a beard of fleshy tentacles. Small Lau are dark green with grey underbellies, adults develop beautiful, individual patterns and colors. Lau are worshipped as elemental spirits and happily take sacrifices of cattle. The breath weapon of the Lau is a jet of devestatingly forceful water.

So which of the African dragons, is it the Hausa "Rainbow Serpent"? The Dahomey dragon "Aido-Hwedo the wife of God?" The Egyptian dragon Apep? Or the Zulu cloudrunner

Hi, Ikechi1,
Thank you for your comment.
I don't know exactly which. It's from a Christopher Kastensmidt's short story.
You can learn more about it following this link:Β www.eamb.org/2011/02/the-fortuβ¦

I think it is. This illustration was made for a friend's short story. He made some research before writing, so I trust him.

African or not, this qualifies as "Different"
Mainly because you rarely see anything aside from the eastern or western. Not to mention that the color scheme and anatomy are to die for with this guy.
