#108: Almarune (Alchemy + Enigma + Rune)

Evolves from any six UNOWN when touching the Enigma Rune
Description: These Pokemon act as guardians for ancient ruins or treasures. They also act as peacekeepers between DIALGA and PALKIA. They are very powerful and extremely versatile in battle, thanks to their Alchemy ability.

Ending off the non-legendaries of the Sapio Dex, we have Almarune, a very...complicated Pokemon. It evolves from Unown...but, considering that there are 28 forms for it, how can it possibly evolve? Well, in a dungeon known as the Lunaris Pyramid, there is a large hieroglyph deep within it, known as the Enigma Rune. Basically, you have to take six Unowns to the rune (Don't worry, Unowns are found within the Pyramid, and you don't need any HM moves to get to the rune.) and touch the rune. This will cause all six of them to merge and evolve, and VOILA, you've got Almarune!
Now, what defines Almarune is not it's stats, although they are thankfully much better than Unown's ever was, as it can actually FIGHT now, but it's ability, known as Alchemy. PAY ATTENTION, BECAUSE THIS GETS PRETTY COMPLICATED!! Basically, how Alchemy works is dependent on hold items. Basically, you gave Almarune a type-boosting item (Ex: Charcoal), and, at the moment you give it that item, Almarune will learn a new move, depending on the item. In the Charcoal's case, it would be prompted to learn Flamethrower. It would also give Almarune a sub-type, depending on the item (in this case, a Fire sub-type), hence the ??? type. However, if you use GEMS instead, it will learn more powerful moves of the type the gem corresponds to.
Alchemy also has an effect inside of battle. Should the opponent attack Almarune with a type that Almarune currently knows through Alchemy, the attack will be negated and turn into HP. For example, if you made Almarune a Psychic/Dark type, but at an eariler point, it learned a Bug type move, instead of taking damage from an opponents Bug-type attack, it would be negated and turned into HP.
Basically, this ability makes Almarune VERY versatile, able to be ANY type in the game, and being able to use a variety of different moves. This ability is a VERY strategic one, though, meaning you have to really think when using it, but, when used right...Almarune will NOT let you down...Holy Arceus, that was a LONG description...XD
