Description
Shiny Form: sta.sh/0jgtbp07833Evolves From: www.deviantart.com/supersonicg… , www.deviantart.com/supersonicg… , www.deviantart.com/supersonicg…
Basis: Inspired by Chess Pieces, specifically the King/Queen pieces.
Original Version: www.deviantart.com/supersonicg…
Special Notes: *Imperial Might - 10% chance of the opponent flinching if the wielder lands a damaging move.
*Ryu - Japanese word for "dragon".
Battle Specs: So, we have the sweeper in Equinight, the tank in Torook, and the supporter in Capreacon in our chess line-up, so where does that leave the king of them all? Well, simply put, Emperyu stands as the jack-of-all-trades in terms of stat distribution. While his peaks don't reach QUITE as high as his followers, his stats are balanced enough so that it can lean into any situation and still stand tall against its opponents.
Of course, Emperyu has its own bag of tricks to help it stand out as well. For starters, its Dragon-typing, a type we haven't seen since Dorigon, gives it a whole boatload of elemental resistances, and Intimidate is an ever-reliable ability that can help soften up opponents laying the royal smackdown on them. There's also the matter of its hidden ability, Imperial Might, which has the potential of flinching opponents on the spot when dealing damage. Yeah, it's essentially Stench under a different name, but it's a dangerous ability should luck be in your favor.
As for its movepool, you obviously have the typical Dragon-esque moves at your disposal; Dragon Claw, Dragon Rush, Dragon Pulse, Breaking Swipe, etc., but you also have some other moves like the elemental triumvirate of Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, and Ice Beam, Noble Roar, Power Gem, Swagger, Dragon Dance, Power Trip, and of course, King's Shield and Sacred Sword. Not mention the other moves from its previous forms, which grants it a whole cornucopia of versatility and strategies. Like I said, it's a jack-of-all-trades. It's yours to toy around with as you please!
Overall, Emperyu stands as a mighty ruler that's more than earned its powerful position! As one of the strongest Normal-types in the business, it's sure to be a powerful asset to any team!
Artist's Notes: It's been some time since we last talked about the revamped Chess line, and even longer since we had a Dragon-type join the ranks. So I think it's about time we cap of this line with the king...or queen, depending...of them all! Getting the design set for Emperyu was...unusually tricky. Given its the last in a very complex evolution line, it was difficult having to add more details to it to make it look like a superior form, while also not losing the aesthetic the previous forms had. It took some trial and error, but I think I did, indeed manage to pull it off just fine. And even then, its LEAGUES better than the originals by a longshot! I'm honestly pleased as punch to have finally given this line the respect it deserves for such a unique concept!
And with that, I hope you enjoyed this grand conclusion, and I'll see you guys next time! Take care! ^_^
