Battle Specs: As one might expect from its real-life mythical counterpart, these pharaonic felines specialize in the special stats with decent speed to compliment them, though its physical stats, while definitely not as high, can still prove viable if you really want to go the mixed route. On top of that, the Ground/Flying typing it sports can be somewhat tricky to deal with, being only weak to Water and Ice. As for its abilities...the ones it's got seem like they'd be more at home on a Psychic-type rather than a Ground/Flying-type; Magic Bounce for sending status moves back to sender, Magic Guard for blocking all indirect damage, and even its hidden ability of Mastermind which turns all of its Normal-moves into super-up Psychic moves!

The same can be said for a solid chunk of the moves in its arsenal, being able to use moves like Psychic, Reflect, Light Screen, Future Sight, Cosmic Power, Heal Block, and more! Of course, in terms of moves more fitting of its type, you've got Sand Tomb, Earthquake, Earth Power, and Scorching Sands for the Ground-side, and Feather Dance, Air Slash, Hurricane, and Dual Wingbeat for its Flying half...plus Brave Bird via egg move, for those who prefer to be a bit more "hands-on". As for its list of extras, you've got Shadow Ball, Steel Wing, Ancientpower, Dazzling Gleam, and Infestation at your disposal.

As a last couple of highlights, there are two moves in particular I want to talk about, the first of which is a little move called Terraform. Think of this move as a weaker Earthquake...except it compensates by nullifying any form of terrain, entry hazard, or room type on the entire battlefield. With how popular Terrains have become in recent games, Terraform has the potential to be a VERY handy move, and a good number of Ground-types can learn it! The other move up for discussion is called Pharaoh's Curse. Despite what it's name might suggested, Pharaoh's Curse is an unusual Ground move that lays a unique curse on the opponent. Should the opponent switch out, the curse will activate and automatically lob off a portion of the new Pokémon's health! It is a VERY tricky move, and only a few select Pokémon can learn it; Pharinx (of course), the Cofagrigus line, Claydol via Egg Move...and a certain legendary 'mon that, for those who've followed the original dex, will know exactly who that is.

Overall, Pharinx is a surprisingly well-balanced 'mon and can be quite versatile among different play-styles. The only catches are that its stats might be underwhelming compared to those who are more specialized (most notably Speed), and while the weaknesses it has are very few, Water-types are annoyingly common and any Ice-type that land a hit will most likely be its undoing. Still, with all the tricks at its disposal, this king of the desert can happily take a slot in any team!

Artist's Notes: I'll be honest, this has been ready to go for a while now, but I've been in a weird motivational funk lately, so I've definitely been lax about posting stuff here. Here's hoping that passes soon, but for now, I at least wanted to get this posted and out of the way before I procrastinate on it any more. As for the design itself, I quite like it. The caracal face markings blending with the more traditional Egyptian tattoos mix quite well together, and the stylized wings were fun to draw! Similar to Carakitt, Pharinx went through a small re-tooling to refine its design a touch, though the previous version wasn't too much different from this current version; just some slight proportion tweaking and more stylized wings.

Either way, that's all for now! See you all next time when I hopefully get some more of my motivation back...which I hope is soon! Take care! ^_^
