Description It's not so much a tutorial as it is a showing of how a particular piece in my gallery looked throughout the development stages from sketch to final product. (the actual final product doesn't have a bg, but the snow shows very well with a black background)

I'm not sure if it's useful or not but if it gives you the idea of my process then great, if not, have lots of Pikachus. XD

More technical questions!
As you can see I feel I have lots to learn from you, I hope you don't mind.
Have mercy on me. m( _ _ )m

When you applied the violet, how did you tone down the intensity and value in the next step?
If I were to blend that in, it would still be a strong ass purple on my page ( ; _ ; )

Oh! I usually lower the opacity or change the layer to overlay/multiply. Which ever one looks best, I have no real way to tell as I always experiment with overlay/multiply and the opacity xD

Hnnn...! *taking furious notes*

I've never given thought to change the opacity of a layer of color...very very interesting, thank you!

How do you get those pencil-sketchy-ish lines? I always thought you just drew it with a pencil and scanned it in, but apparently you're doing this 100% digital.

BTW, just a warning, I may completely steal your style over time if this keeps up. You already gave me your brush and now I see how you're doing it (for the most part) what with the drastic colored-shading and whatnot.

Or I might not because then I'd be, well, stealing a style. Dangnabbit my crazy convictions on artistic techniques! D:

superTULER In reply to McKnackus [2010-12-02 03:33:23 +0000 UTC]

Yep, it's all digital! Makes life less tree wasting but really I just dont have a scanner lol I usually use pinks and blues randomly on my shades O.O;

McKnackus In reply to superTULER [2010-12-02 16:32:54 +0000 UTC]

Then I guess you'll keep your pencily-gritty-lines a secret, you feind.

I'll figure it out eventually anyway though.

Oh wowzers. What'd you do between the 5th and 6th picture to blend the pink with the yellow? I'm a n00b to digital media, so I'm still kind getting used to how to use photoshop and different shading techniques.

👍: 0 ⏩: 3

superTULER In reply to blackrathmar [2010-12-02 03:35:13 +0000 UTC]

Mostly just adding layers and adding a few more colors and erasing some color (in a way that it looks blended) to get some nice looking colors I should of taken more screen caps in the process >.<

I dun think I quite understand what happens at the hot pink stage to the next. How does it go to becoming so muted?

Oh, is this your brush you made that lets you get the watercolor look in these recent pictures? It looks like stuff I have seen on official trading cards. Some of my fav pictures.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

superTULER In reply to FuzzyAcornIndustries [2010-12-02 03:37:11 +0000 UTC]

Wow that's a huge complement. What an awesome job that would be lol and it's tinkering with the opacity of a layer and sort of erasing some of the shade with the eraser set to the same brush as the actual brush (if that makes sense) I really should of taken more screen caps. But it's just the opacity set to a lower level and I think I added some orange in there

FuzzyAcornIndustries In reply to superTULER [2010-12-02 04:34:46 +0000 UTC]

Nah, what needs to happen is me going to your Livestreams. c.c'

Ah, so erasing, but not smudging or blurring? That makes some sense if I map the strokes in my head on my own past works.

Though I think if I had any chance of doing this style it would be in oC 1.1 since I know that inside out compared to Photoshop CS4. Plus I am used to do much of my work by hand. (its just Illustrator is spoiling me o3o; faaantastic)

Oh, not sure if it was in your comment, but was that brush you used here the one you posted in your gallery a bit back? I never tinkered with it to know what it was exactly.
