I realized after drawing him... I really like him as a bipedal Pokemon. 8D"BRING IT ON HATERS." XD ...probably the look he's giving all of internet. Poor fella...

Edit: Now that I have a moment to comment, I'll say that I kind of like how it turned out and I kind of didn't. It was rushed for the most part because I didn't want to work on it later. The background isn't really of much effort as it's just a negative image blown up XD I struggled a bit with the body but for the most part I'm happy enough with how it is considering we don't even know if it's real or not. At this point I'm not willing to spend half a day on something I don't know for sure is the real deal.
Thanks for all the favs and kind comments though!

Its a nice pic. But yeah, hes fake. If you go to Pokebeach.com you can read an interview with the illustrators in which one of them says that the water starter would have a sword by his final evolution. So yeah, fakes.

I think its just the pose of the four legs in the artwork we've seen, they don't seem to allow for much movement. Where as in this one it has elbows XD

I really didn't care for any of the starters' final evolutions but if I had to chose one, it would probably be this guy. And I have to say you made him look better and I agree that he works better as bipedal.
After seeing some stuff on forums I'm starting to lean towards the possibility of them being fake. Especially since the original pictures of them have the same border as this guy and that one has been proven to be a fake. Plus the coloring on the evolutions seems different from Sugimori's style too. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

"This just in and has been in for half a week" kind of fake. If you're not following Serebii and are getting your info from a legit place, you'll know that those "possible third evos" are fanart that someone who had heard of Ken Sugimori's interview drew. Most likely they had interpreted his words in their own way.
There are some elements of the art that I do like, such as the style of the line and the detail shading on the shell armor.
However, there are some things that feel wrong about the pose to me--I think it's the placement and the rendering of the arms, as well as the tilt of the body. The mismatched eyes leaps out the most at me. If Wotter's fake third evo is supposed to be narrowing one eye, it would be a good idea to make that very obvious. I think the background could be handled better too.

It's kinda cool when you think about it though. You only get one shot... once Serebii or another site gets the first info when the game finally ships in Japan(like a week or less), the whole world will know, so you only get this one opportunity to do something like this...might as well make use of it.
