Edit: The reason he has a great ball is this: In the Japanese version of Pokemon they refer to the great ball as the 'super ball' ...'super'-tuler, 'super' ball? Eh? EHH? :3I was doing sort of a study on how the very well known 'Sugimori' style. This time I wanted to give it a shot on both recreating the lines, colors, and build of trainer as you see here. I think it turned out alright. I put a bit more effort into the trainer (or myself) compared to the other two fakemon I added in there. (Quakoon on the right and Grizleaf on the left) =3
It was REALLY fun. XD I don't think I can do this much, it drains mah energy because I'm concentrating on every little detail for the styling aspect ;-;

I pretty much had a piece of his art side by side comparing it to and to get the most accurate result! : D ...while it is very fun, it's also not as easy as it looks

i said i tried and it wasn't easy, another one of my problems is smooth and neat outlines. doing rugged outlines are hard ey? i can't do neat ones XD

Hmm... if I look at this long enough I do see the resemblance to Sugimori. But for some strange reason I never really cared much for his style.
But that might be because the company spams his artwork everywhere over and over again. I want new pictures on merchandise rather then his "one picture fits all" ... umm... art.

this is so cool
i see that the fakemon here are the same as your others but in a renewed gen4 art style.
i hope you recolour some of your fakemon (or make new ones) in a gen4 artstyle

It actually has it's ups and down. The 2 style I have a bit more freedom as to how/which way I can shade because it's supposed to look like watercolors and traditional art never looks 100 percent the same. But with gen 4 style it's very restricting on how I can shade with minimal highlights and precise shading x_x; sometimes I have to redo it. ;-;
So for short, gen 2 style has more leeway on how you can color. And gen 4 is simpler but is harder to get sometimes.

Well actually! There is a little story behind that. In japanese version of Pokemon they call the great ball the 'Super Ball' and sense it is super-tuler that is holding it I thought it would be clever to hold the 'Super ball'

I would love to make a full blown hack of a game and include my characters. XD; box-art and all! ~ o_o; though that's terribly ambitious and sounds like it involves programing

Hm, maybe they have a trainer/proggie to work with on that one. I know for a fact that people have made full blown hacks on the GBA games, and of course there's an easy to use hack-program for Super Mario World, so it might just be as easy as dropping in some sprite work and changing some text fields.. D: Not sure on that though, I just know it's been done for other things...
