Description
This is something I just couldn't resist doing. It is inspired by I'll Fly Higher .In this picture, Scootaloo has grown up and followed in Rainbow Dash's footsteps, and is reflecting on this during a sunset.
It was hard to figure out what cutie mark she would have, and I ended up with my idea of what a modernized variant of the previous generations' Scootaloo's cutie mark would look like. Here are my thoughts from when I drew it, and what I've told commentors here and on EqD: "My headcanon is that it is more representative than literal; seeing how butterflies go through many stages in their life, so, too, will Scootaloo pass this 'caterpillar' stage and blossom forth into the beautiful, epic, flying mare we see here"
Tech Specs:
Took about 8 hours to draw, after about 4 hours of rendering the background, which took about 3 hours to perfect
Programs used:
Terragen 2 for the background
PhotoImpact X3 for Scootaloo and the after-effects
After-effects:
Gaussian Blur on the background, to make it more of a setting than a focal point
Lens Flare on the sun to emphasize its brightness
Diffuse Glow to bring out the colors and light levels in the scene

Your skill with vectors is impressive and I like that you utilize real scenery in art depicting an animated character. This shows a lot of skill with blending,IF that is a real image.
If not, then I commend you on creating such convincing scenery.
problems:
Now, It's a great thing have character/setting contrast, but to a harsher eye the pony might seem 'pasted' on.
I see this Pegasus pony flying before this landscape, this horizon,But that's only BEFORE.
Your shading is impressively accurate relative to the light source
but does it convince the viewer of depth?
it's just a question you should ask yourself when you come back to this picture.

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to make a critique for my deviation! I greatly appreciate it :3
That said, I sense that you didn't read the description before typing this critique, as many of your implied inquiries would be answered by it. For instance, it explicitly says, under the "Tech Specs" header, that I used "Terragen 2 for the background", meaning that it was created and rendered entirely my myself, within the Terragen 2 program.
I can assure you that there is nothing "pasted on" about this image. In fact, it was ENTIRELY hand-made by myself, with absolutely no external resources. I understand how having a 2D character drawn in a 3D world can feel that way, which is why I used such stark contrast when lighting the background; I made the grass, water, sun, and sky bright, vibrant colors (or pure white, in the sun's case), such as are on the show, and I had the shadows terminate rapidly to further enforce the cartoonish aspect of the scene (there is a sharp line between lit and shaded terrain, like in cartoons).
When it comes to the lighting of the subject, adult Scootaloo, this process, alone, took up half of her drawing time. I painstakingly drew vectors from the sun to her body at dozens of points to work out exactly where the sun would hit her when seen from this perspective, and my only regret is that I forgot to curve one of the shading lines bordering her wing and hair. I won't change this, now, but will keep a closer eye out for similar mistakes in future works. That said, I believe that the lighting is definitely convincing, and in fact fits the background, as it is rapidly terminated.
As far as "wind effects" go, I was imagining this as a still sunset, giving her pause. This, and the fact that wind and motion aren't usually represented in the show's fly cycles, is why I didn't draw motion lines or anything of the like on the subject.
As you said a few times, it's up to me. Well, as far as I see, I couldn't have dun any more with this work than I have, other than the aforementioned shading goof. I must thank you for your wonderful critique, and I plan to come back to it for future reference :3

I would be able to understand you better if you didn't use run-on sentences, but I'll do my best. I think what you're trying to say is that it's the studio's fault that they don't have their cutie marks, and that if it were up to you, they'd have them already. I'm not sure what your point is, when you say this, as you've already said that you DON'T want them to get their cutie marks.

no what i say is they shouldnt get cutie marks so soon its a good idea but what im actualy talkngi about is the cutie mark crusaders dont have their powers like flying or magic just AppleBloom can do what she can do but its so stupid to see that people ignore of Sweetie Bells unavaivable magic instead paying all attention to Scootaloo, im saying that it would just hurt, hurt so badly to Scootaloo to see how people treat her as a chicken.... it would hurt me greatly aswell...
