Height: 3’5”
Gender: Male
Eye Color: Unknown
Race: Gnome
Biography
Not much is known about the early years of this ancient and venerable mage. From his youth, Hybbyt was a student of magic, and all of his hard work, training, and studying paid off, as he eventually became one of the most powerful mages in the world. However, a century or so ago, his advanced age caught up with his mind and he began to grow rather senile.
Hybbyt came into Mitch ’s life when Mitch and his companions journey to a town where the Gnomish mage was supposed to have met his new apprentice. Unfortunately, due to a mix-up, Hybbyt mistook Mitch for said apprentice and magically bound the boy to him, completely oblivious to the fact that Mitch could not, in fact, actually use magic.
Satisfied with his new “apprentice”, Hybbyt joined Mitch and his friends in their journeyings to combat the forces of evil, serving as their de facto “(grand)father figure” and walking encyclopedia on all aspects of the world (albeit one with a severely fickle memory). His magic, when he actually remembered how to use it, was useful for getting them out of sticky situations.
Personality
Hybbyt had a somewhat grumpy, irascible, and impatient temperament; this was offset by his constant bouts of senility and forgetfulness, during which he became relatively complacent. He took a great amount of pride in his intellect, age, experience, and his magical prowess, and was easily insulted by any perceived affront to any of these traits. Despite all of this, he was essentially good-natured and wished to assist Mitch in scouring the land of evil.
Family
The extent or condition of Hybbyt’s family is unknown—it is assumed that they might all be dead due to his advanced age, and he doesn’t seem to have ever married. However, it remains yet to be seen if, in his travels with Mitch, the group will run into any of the gnome’s blood relations.
Abilities
Hybbyt was a powerful wizard, specializing in elemental magic. He could command the very forces of nature to do his bidding, with highly effective and impressive results. Unfortunately, most of the potency of his sorcery was mitigated by the fact that he could rarely remember how to use it (or at least use it competently). He also possessed the ability to fall asleep at the most random and inopportune times, although whether or not this was actually helpful is under heavy debate.
Design Notes
My friend and I created Hybbyt along with the rest of the main Adventures of Mitch cast, about four years ago (as of this writing). I can’t remember how we originally came up with him—I think we were just toying with the idea of including in the party a powerful, but old mage who rarely is cognizant enough to be actually powerful, and who mistakenly takes the magically-inept Mitch as his apprentice. From there, his personality and design have changed very little. (I do have to give credit to her brother for making up his name; we asked him for a good gnome name and this is what he gave us.)
Just a bit of trivia: the symbol on his medallion harkens back to a very old character design of mine that had nothing to do with the Mitch project, but I decided to recycle it when said design was abandoned.

"You shall not pass!" wait..... wrong character.
"Your love for the halflings' weed has clearly slowed your mind"....wait....D'oh! Failed again >.<
Sorry, couldn't resist it. It sounds fun! He reminds me of Merlin! ^^
Ancient, senile, grumpy, impatient and "walking encyclopedia" mage, how can it not sound cool and likable?
Heh, imagine he falls asleep in the middle of the battle or at the time he is rescuing someone. Or when he just stands there on battlefield and can't remember the spell and is like "Um.... hum, hum, burarum.....um..... fire bolts, lightning or ice projectiles?"
That's a

Hehe, thanks. Yeah, he is a really fun character, definitely one of my favorites in the comic.
Those do sound like things he'd do, yes. At one point he's going to sink himself into a pit with earth magic and then think that he's raised up the entire ground around him.
