Yeah Conan is in for a fight for his life and soul here.
I'm glad you like the picture.
Also you got some nice work yourself, nice lighting from a single source, something to fuzz/soften it might help get less hot spot areas. Wish i had a few of your figures bro, Darkness is a great one i missed on.

Well what kind of lights are you useing? And lets see what you might have or can get.
If your useing desk lamps like me at this point, then a good filter can be a piece of difussed plexyglass or even the stuff from the bottom of a box spring for your bed....tho the last watch as it can catch fire if to close to a light. If you have funds id suggest buying some stage lighting books, i have from my tech stage classes a few, Thier are many out thier from many eras, make sure they talk about were its placed on the stage plian....if you have a email i can send you afew of the pages i've scanned from them for other students ive helped out.
Thier is alot to know about lighting and how things effect the subject and to create a mood, plus the camera involved too.

right now the hotspots are coming from the built in flash.. i do have a couple of pics on here where i used the manual settings and was using several different items to cover a flashlight that i have.. plastic bags, white, blue and grey,
also had to be creative with a couple of kids cups that are transparent.. but they dont come out as well..

Good tricks, tho that can be tricky to do.
What seems to be a problem and i have it as well since my camera i use(digital Pentax Optio 750Z) is old now, is being to close to the subject. when i used my SLR 35MM im fine as i can zoom in and take amazing shots, but this pocket camera has a horrable zoom, espcally with the macro setting i use for them, plus i cant clean the lens.
So depending on what kind of stlye camera your useing you might be to close and the flash is harsh unless you can control the amount it puts out, the 35MM i have has a bulit in and a snap in one, the snap in adjusts from full power which makes ya feel like your in a cartoon down to 1/16th which is usally more than enuff to deal with. So you might be able to adjust it as well, just deopends on that camera ya got.
But great idea with the bags and cups to help defuse the light.
Also try turning it off and useing external lights like desk lamps and work lights, its tricky to get the color tones right, but a photo editing software is pretty good at fixing that. Also watch how close and how far the lights are from the subject and foucs on the subject since the flash makes that a easy task usally.
Well hope this helps a bit more and let me know that ya think.

My first introduction to Conan was back in 1975, when I read my first REH paperback edited by L. Sprague de Camp.
The rest is history, as they say. I collected Savage Sword magazines and had every comic book as well.
Those were the day...
