Description Spotfin Scorpionfish that was done for my mom for christmas 2008.
Scientific name is Sebastepistes ballieui.
"Like many Scropionfishies, this well-camouflaged fish has venomous spines which only offer it further protection from predators. It is only found in Hawaii."

This was a image i did at about 2 years in to useing watercolors and being in the drawing painting relam for 6 years.
This is my 1st time on Deviant and my 1st image uploaded.

Watercolors on paper.

Thank you for looking.

Wow, I love this! How did you work up the patience to paint each one of those scales? I would have wimped out way before I finished it. I love the red stripes on his eye. It actually makes him look somewhat Christmas-y. The line art is wonderful. Is this a real fish or did you make it up?

Mahalo!(Hawaiian for thank you)
I wanted this to be as close to the real fish as possible. It scales show and the eye is almost like a candy cane or peppermint drop.
And no i didn't make it up thats how this rare fish looks, its only found in Hawaii and is amazing to see in person.
I have more fish in my Art Gallery and i plan to put more in the group and to do more fish as its a series ive been working on for sevral semsters now(a year or so).
Agian Mahalo!

I think thier in the same family of fish, but not sure.
As for this guy you only find 'em in the waters around Hawaii.
And thank you! I'm glad you like it!
I improve with each one i do, or i feel i do.

This are really cool fish but have toxic spines so thier that mix of cool, ugly and stay away.
If you want i can do up one for a art trade or something (if i dont have it set for a print).
Agian thank you and im glad you like it so much.
