Description This was a test render I was working on to look at alternative layouts of how the Enterprises engineering could of looked like in the 2009 Star Trek film

In defense of the JJprise design, when they were doing all the conceptual stuff, they had wanted to actually build a physical set from scratch for engineering that, judging from some of the concept art, was loosely similar to this. But on top of all the rest they had to build for the movie, it proved to be outside the film's budget, at least not without skimping in other areas where it would've showed more obviously. Filming instead in the brewery was their cost-saving solution to the problem, and an okay compromise in the long run.

I, for one, liked the complicated industrial look of the brewery engineering, especially as it's very reflective of what real-life naval ship engineerings look like, but I sort of wish they could've sprung for a unique set instead too.

This looks SO much better then the JJ Brewery engineering.

All if the machinery on the lower level is actually based on the props that were used in the original 1960's sets, The warp core still needs some love, but I wanted to tie it into the core used on the NX class in 'Enterprise'. I was thinking of adding a 'pool table' at the center, but it just felt like it was in the way.

Very nicely done! This works out a lot better than what they went with. It combines the "industrial" look J.J. Abrams wanted with the original series layout and adds more continuity to the ship.

Yeah, the hardest part of the new Enterprise for me to accept is the cavernous oil refinery look of Engineering. This is a nice retcon concept.
