And actually this is not my design. The second name in the roll of artists on the right top of the pic, ufpzhengyu. is the chief designer of this elegant yet powerful starship. I'm merely a blueprint-maker to better present his brilliant ideas for the original Sovereign class. Yes, I choose Sovereign to do this for a good reason, that the idea from ufpzhengyu itself is basically a modified Sovereign. This is for a certain reason, yet irrelevant to the background I'm gonna reveal. I have several sets of background for her in different SNS platforms. Here the codename is Project Liberty Bell. Of course, background serves the features of the ship.

Indomitable Class, initially designated as Sovereign-Cepheus Class, is a multi-role, heavily armed, high-speed and long-range capital ship for Star Fleet, designed by Leah brahms Workshop on Antares in early 2380s. The preliminary study began in 2379, when Voyager returned Earth with great amount of knowledge to have Star Fleet's eyes opened. Then shortly after that, ASDB Antares Branch and Star Fleet Command granted a proposal from Dr.Leah Brahms about integration of technologies Voyager brought back into current structure. This is project Liberty Bell. And the ship we talk here is the very first outcome of its effort. At first, this was treated simply as a long-term study. However, Borg threat since 2381 scrambled original provision. Sovereign class, the definite backbone of Federation, now found themselves not doing so easy. With concern for a large-scale invasion, Star Fleet raised their attention to a few projects. Liberty Bell was among them. Dr.Brahms, after counsulting her coodinator from Star Fleet, Cmdr. Sunaokami, decided to bring up the Soverign-Cepheus study for applicable review. It is pretty challenging to make this design a real thing, even though half dozen of her technologies are feasible or mature. But this is the only program with required tactial capacities and best progress on Brahms' hand. When details got settled, she'd certainly be on the same stage with Vesta class and Inquiry class.

In fact, she proved herself even better after a nearly disastrous electric failure on the eve of USS Indomitable's launch after 2 years construction in a rush since 2382. Luckily, fate decided to allow her meet her historical moment. Indomitable spent next 3 years in trial after leaving dock, during which she became the third in fleet that successfully sustain a quantum slipstream corridor. She also participated in an encounter at Kepler 547b in 2384 when a fleet belonged to a Romulan warlord tried to occupy a critical Antimatter factory under Federation's control. Rumors even said that Indomitable engaged with mobility that beyond capabilities of Romulan targeting sensors.

Indomitable officially commissioned in 2385, and not long after that her sister ship, Yorktown, laid down in Dock 39B in Antares. Indomitable was named after a Constitution class ship and was a historic name in British Royal Navy. All 6 ships built in flight I were named after old Earth aircraft carriers in World War II. Yorktown was originally named as Nelson. It was alternated when USS Yorktown NCC-20013-A was sunk in 2386. Her crew would take over this new Yorktown-B later. They were the first to examine the core ability of Indomitable class. Yorktown took an emergency departure halfway during her commission ceremony, when 7 Borg cubes invaded Antares. With her Tetryon Plasma Cannon, she protected the system. Rest of her class would name after the most famous aircraft carriers of Japan, Germany, Italy and France in WWII.

Just like everything obviously showed, Indomitable is a variant or deep upgrade of Sovereign class, one of the most successful ships in 2370s. More importantly, Sovereign is also the most elegant but muscular starship recognized by Chinese fans. This says why my friend develop Indomitable based on Sovereign. Saucer got stretched in its forward sections, lengthened the ship to 720m, making the dorsal view a bit Odyssey class alike, while other scales remain no change. However, what lay beneath the surface are totally new. Innovations start from material. Hexagonal structural frame is interlocked by Neutronium alloy reinforced nodes. Crucial sections, including necelle pylon, saucer separation interface, main bridge module and main deflector, are reinforced by Rodinium alloy fiber. Her warp coils are also mixed with Gallicite to increase efficiency.

She operates more automatically than previous starships. Only no more than 900 crew members are required to routinely run an Indomitable class ship. Of course, exocomps and nanites are not included in this number but are parts of crew. Those lovely artificial beings play vital role in ship's operation. But when it comes to deep space or long term assignments, she'd embark additional crew, mainly science and engineering staff. Despite the fact that Indomitable was introduced as a tactical-oriented ship, full mission spectrum long-range exploration is still within her designed capacities. She found her place in peace era as frontier surveillance ship, providing immediate assitance to relatively light-armed Federation science vessels. Her capability in combat is no doubt impressive to most powers in known galaxy. Both Type-XIII(In) phaser array and variable-payload torpedo launcher are optimized for fire speed. A dual mounts Stationary Heavy armament Point (SHP) is on the center line of her saucer's ventral surface. As a demonstration of Star Fleet's road to modularity, highly adaptable EPS taps allow a wide range of weapons to be fixed onboard, including mid-size phaser cannon developed from Galaxy Dreadnought, Tetryon Plasma Cannon which utilizes subspatial character of Tetryon to be hard-adapted but with risk of damaging spatial structure at meantime, Thoron Oscillation Pulse emitter commonly used by Cardassian. Deflector shield grid of Indomitable is amazing, either. This is a rapid-regenerative multi-adaptive shielding technology developed based on experiences from past missions. She also equipped with experimental Abrative Armor generators. Star Fleet even spared no effort to provide her with state-of-art soft-killing capabilities. Multiple Spectra Control System, or spectrulator (Spectrum Modulator) generates subspace field in controlled frequency to hide or fake ship's emission signatures, even actively blind enemy sensors or disable hostile targets by extending dumpening field or projecting harmonic pulses.
