I may have to ask, though I don't know what the reply will be (and this is ment for you since it's your character...) But... Asphyxia? wouldn't be because her looks cause people to choke would it? I'm just asking, if so, quite a good name to pick, if not, quite an irony...

Her name is inherited by default due to my online gaming. I just carried the name from one MMO to the next. Star Wars Galaxies when she was a bothan, EQ2 where she became a High Elf Templar, Second Life when she became the skunk, and lastly Pirates of the Burning Sea as a Privateer in the Spanish nation. I don't actively play any MMOs anymore as they tend not to really hold my interest for too long and are extrememly time intensive.
Anyway, back to your question. Seeing as the name carried on and preceeded the character in each incarnation it was pure happenstance that it best suited her as a skunk when she arrived in Second Life.
She's been around for more than four years now and has been known for three years as the skunk. To me she'll always be that skunk and has developed a life of her own over these past number of years. Hope that answers your question.

...not really, good history, sounds cool, but I got lost as to why her name still is the posh word for "Choking" I guess it makes sence to a degree (a skunk might be able to cause "Asphyxiantion" but it is highly unlikely)... so I was just inquiring because it seemed quite funny at the time.

Oh yes, as to why the name 'Asphyxia' was chosen. When I first drafted up the first incarnation I wanted to choose a name that stood out and would be memorable as well as having somewhat of a deeper, dark tone to it.
Most of the folks on SWG had something nutty, common, picked off the random name generator which chose a name appropriate for their race or simply used their messenger handles. As I mentioned above, I wanted something people would remember. Let alone the number of times people typoed it trying to spell it in chat.
Why 'Asphyxia'? I rather liked the noun itself. The state of suffocation by lack of oyxgen and an excess of carbon dioxide in the blood. Typically caused by choking, drowning, electric shock, injury or the inhalation of toxic gasses.
My career path in SWG was that of an entertainer and as thus I wanted to create a name that represented her ability in dance and music. In a sense that her performances were affecting those in her audience with awe that they felt breathless.
By all means it has nothing to do with a fascination with asphyxiation. Nor does it imply that she is into auto-asphyxiation. However, I have heard many unusual comments and had some creepy people IM her with lewd propositions. Just wanted to add that to clear things up.
So when SL came around and she became the skunk it was coincidence, but very appropriate to her nature as a skunk. The name suited her perfectly.

So I guessed right, it was picked intentionally, as I said, cool name, very dark, but still respectable (in a way) cool how she has a lot of history though, I'd do the same as you if I was ever on any of those games (never been on those kind of websites)

As a final footnote regarding her name are her last names. Since her start was in SWG and she was a bothan she had a traditional bothan family name which was "E'Fey."
On SL she had the last name "Lemieux." Lemieux meaning "the best" in French. Therefore "Best Asphyxiation."

Wow... I wouldn't be what I'd describe as the best Asphyxiation... but then again, looking at her... yeah, really cool name again
