Contest prize for for coming first over at #Scales-and-ClawsClub 's last contestHer dragon NahΓ©chak! (with whom I am absolutely in love with his design <3 adhwkad)
So I have never spent this long on a painting before, lost track of the hours, but I finally managed to finish it off after working on the background all week since my semester finished
worth it though, I'm quite happy with this. I also found a new love of painting rocks and a different way to paint feathers which was a lot easier, faster, and I like the style better - I feel like it looks more natural, as opposed to the every-feather-individually-detailed approach i've taken before. I'm also still working with fancy-coloured lighting and, well, it's getting there.Anyway hopefully I got his design right, and enjoy!
Also I have a larger version of this so should you want that for any reason, just let me know ^^

You did a fine job! I really like how you portrayed him, it fits so well to his personality. I donΒ΄t know if it was intentional, but you painted him in his fall colours (very much red) and I really like it this way, it fits very good to the background. The whole scenery is perfect, just the place where he loves to be. I also love the pose you choose, the wings are magnificent! I love them. They look so real and natural, just amazingly beautiful! I also like how you drew the markings. All in all itΒ΄s a very fine painting and I like it a lot. Sorry I wish my english vocabulary was bigger, so that I could find the right words for this (:

Most of the colouring is a bit changed by the lighting but the base was pretty red, I guess it's a little bit accidental though 
I remember reading something about him being a forest spirit so I thought a pretty forest valley would be fitting!
