Description
The final (and probably my favourite) of several characters created in collaboration with member9 . 20 years in the future, the Europa League of heroines has officially disbanded, but a new threat forces the next generation of heroes to take their place!AURORA
REAL NAME: Lenka Arjet-Solsken
AGE: 24
BASED IN: Kiruna
SUPPORTING CAST: Birgitta Solsken (adoptive mother/mentor), Emmalina Arjet (adoptive mother/mentor)
ORIGINS
Born in the idyllic mining town in which she spent the majority of her life, Lenka's parents were both killed when she was young, crushed by a chunk of rubble scattered into the atmosphere after the alien ship was destroyed above Jupiter City. Lenka spent the next decade as an orphan who never quite fit in. Three times, the orphanage unexplainably caught alight, and all three times the fire could be traced back to Lenka's room.
She was a Post-Human. A being with strange and extraordinary powers granted to her by the same radioactive chunk of debris that had killed her parents. And she was terrified of what she could do.
Quite by coincidence, when honeymooning at the world famous Ice Hotel near Kiruna, the newly wed superheroines Midnight Sun and Swiss Miss happened across Lenka. Taking her in and teaching her to control her powers was only natural.
POWERS/ABILITIES
Colour Drafting: Lenka can drain objects of their colour, drawing on its pure essence and giving it material form. Each colour behaves differently, and has its own unique uses. Purer shades of each colour are more effective.
-Red: Roughly the same consistency as water, red is liquid and difficult to control. It is also highly flamable.
-Orange: Thick and gooey, orange behaves like a mixture of oil and adhesive. Very useful for restraining enemies.
-Yellow: As strong and dense as concrete, yellow is easily Lenka's most durable form of construct.
-Green: Roughly as dense and strong as wood, green is naturally springy and elastic.
-Blue: Sharp and brittle, blue makes excellent weapons.
Artistic Mind: Lenka's abilities are as versatile as her own imagination. She is very imaginative.
WEAKNESSES
-Inexperience: Lenka has no experience whatsoever in combat.
-Physically Inept: Lenka is not a fighter. At all. She is also not an athlete. While she can provide reasonable support, if a villain forces her into a direct physical confrontation she will probably lose.
-No more resistant to hypnosis, drugging or magic than anyone else.
-Non Contactless: Lenka must be able to maintain physical contact with an object in order to absorb its colour.
-She cannot store colour essence. Once drafted, it must be used. If trapped in a completely dark (or white) environment, where she is unable to draft any colour, Lenka is totally powerless.
-Hands Free: Lenka cannot direct her powers if her hands are restrained.
HUGE thankies to member9 for:
-creating the original Europa League, which inspired these characters
-giving me the green light to take his characters in this direction
-rendering this image
-helping with the brainstorming for these characters
-being totally awesome in every single way imaginable.

She can't do purples

Oh? Why?
(And for science pedant reasons, what about the rest of the electromagnetic spectrum?)

Her range is a straight line, from red to blue. Each of those is at one extreme of her useable spectrum, while yellow is neutral, and everything between has a mix of the properties of the colours involved.
She can't use purple, brown, white, black, and grey. Everything from perfect red to perfect blue, however, is fair game.
She can only use what's visible, though could arguably get around this by wearing tinted lenses (if she saw EVERYTHING as green, for example, then she would have an infinite supply of green)

Neat. Thanks for clarifying!
I have to try really hard to not pick apart all the science behind this. Superheroes do not obey the laws of physics.... Superheroes do not obey the laws of physics....

Have you read Brent Weeks 'Lightbringer' books? The magic in that works pretty much exactly like Aurora's powers.
...what? I'm allowed to take inspiration!

It's fine, we all occasionally find a neat idea that we draw from (i.e. blatantly rip off). I just haven't gotten around to posting mine...
I have not read it. I'm honestly not much of a superhero fan; probably why I like the deconstructions of the genre so much. Top 10, Watchmen, Batman... I'm currently just starting the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (which includes at least one extraordinary gentlewoman).

Ooh, they're quite good books! He's a fun author. His Night Angel trilogy was REALLY good, so I pre-ordered Lightbringer...really need to finish book 3.
If you're in the mood for a blackly comedic novel about sarcastic magical assassins, I highly recommend the Night Angel books.
All I actually know about the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is that the film was pretty solid and that their two most powerful members were a woman and a...whatever Mr. Hyde is.

Let's call Hyde a "man-like artifice". Miss Murray is the leader, but she's more suited to deception and espionage than direct combat: given that she's one of two people on the team without some sort of superpower. Which, as the Batman principle proves, makes her even more badass when she still holds her own in their menagerie.
Hm. I'll have to check that out. Sounds like what Dishonored should have been like.

(was she the vampire? My knowledge of this title is based purely on the film...and in the film, if we count Hyde, there were three superpowered individuals; Hyde, her and the Invisible Man.)
I remember getting them for pretty cheap and unexpectedly finding them among my favourite reads that year. Definitely worth what I paid for them!

I haven't seen the film, but in the comic book she's just a regular person. There's Hyde, the invisible man (who's rather unpleasant) and Nemo, who while he doesn't have powers himself has some ridiculously powerful technology: he's kinda Iron man-ish. Murray and some other guy (an old war hero) are the regular folks in the story.

Ahhh.
In the film there's Hyde, the invisible man (who's...not entirely pleasant), Dorian Grey (immortal), vampire lady (vampire), Nemo (he has some interesting tech, but seems to be focused in different areas from what you've described. He had an awesome submarine, and designs for tanks and armoured suits and stuff, but in combat he was more of a swordsman than anything else), Sean Connery (who was a hunter...and possibly the war hero guy you mentioned) and Tom Sawyer (who was basically Sean Connery Lite)

Perhaps Iron man wasn't the best analogy. His big things in the comics are the fancy submarine and a ridiculous harpoon machine gun. He's probably my favourite character so far.

Why these specific colors? I suppose red, blue, yellow and green make sense as the basis for pigment and light based colors, but then why is orange in there?Β

Orange and green. She can use anything in that range, but (crap, I forgot this one) the extremes (red and blue) have psychological effects. Red pushes her towards insane anger, blue towards inhumanly cold logic. Green and orange are the midway between neutral (yellow) and those, and everything within that spectrum works as a sliding scale.
She can't use purple.

I'm a bit annoyed though. I was gonna do a sunlight thing for the nymph villain. Guess I'll change it to nature instead

SvettaK92 In reply to FairyPrincessJess [2016-05-10 04:27:24 +0000 UTC]
Ohh...because she controlled plants and vines and stuff, and they all need sunlight?
You still could! The nymph is magic, so having similar powers to Sternenlicht wouldn't break the Onpyhverse rules! Plus Heidi won't be appearing in present-day adventures, sooo...

Awesome! I'll still do that then
I'm over the moon that you're letting Wisp be in the Onpyhverse! Thank you so much!
And since you're the creator of it, I kinda feel like I should check with you before making certain rules and stuff for the different realms that Wisp deals with.
Or, you know, if something threatens to destroy the world

SvettaK92 In reply to FairyPrincessJess [2016-05-10 07:11:27 +0000 UTC]
Hey, Ubergirl is the only part of the Onpyhverse I'm especially protective over; feel free to wipe out the whole planet, teleport us into an alternate realm and erase our memories, so long as at the end everything is more or less back to normal...
π: 0 β©: 1
FairyPrincessJess In reply to SvettaK92 [2016-05-10 08:30:24 +0000 UTC]
Gotcha! I can make a huge mess out of the universe has long as Wisp is able to clean up. Sounds like a plan!
I'll have to get writing a few more stories
π: 0 β©: 1
SvettaK92 In reply to FairyPrincessJess [2016-05-10 10:51:12 +0000 UTC]
Oh, you can destroy the universe if you want! Just come up with a logical way everyone in it could be not-dead.
I'm actually toying with an idea at the moment...everyone dies. Ubergirl falls into a coma after supposedly giving her life to save what's left of the world. Everything from then on is just a dream; in her coma she's imagining everything was back the way it was, the status quo never changes, and she can just go on having adventures and hanging out with her friends forever...
...
...but I just couldn't. I refuse to put myself or her fans through anything like that.

You're a cruel person! How could you?! That's like those fan theories people come up with.
I'm sure you could pull it off but it would be a horrible way to do it. Maybe save that for the final ever story if you decide that you're sick of Ubergirl (god forbid).
