Now THIS is what I like to see from you: traditionally produced artwork, powerful in its composition and well-drawn and shaded. You have the Adam Hughes style going on (wide shoulders, narrow hips), but I don't mind. The Film Noir look is what stands out so dramatically. Very, very nice. Would love to see more like this one.

I think AH is terrific. I'll NEVER approach the kind of art he produces. He does make PG's hips too narrow, though.

you could start doing couples interacting with each other in many different ways.

Oh, this is nice! Very strong effect, skillful use of light and shade to create form. Very moody, like a '40's film noir version of the heroine. As much as you like working in color, your main strength is in monochrome. See the above illustration. Keep it up.

It always amazes me that with all the digital artwork creation programs out there that you can command such feelings and depth with pencils and perhaps charcoal. The light on PG's left side indicates her innate goodness and light, while the shadowy right side indicates the darker side she must sometimes call upon to complete her missions.
Top notch art, my friend! Wowzers!

Thanks! I like your interpretation, but all I was trying to show was her splendid topography. In my view, digital figures seem cold and stiff.

Your work puts me in mind of an portrait artist (yourself) who is visited by the real-life Powergirl, aka Karen Starr:
Karen: "I hear you like to do portraits of me. How can you really capture my true essence without me being there to model for you?"
The artist: "But...but...you are a superheroine in a comic. How can you be here? Am I hallucinating?"
K: "Answer the question, Rembrandt. I'm the real thing. I'm Kara Zor-L, aka Karen Starr, formerly Supergirl on Earth-2"
A: "Well, most artists know you only as a fictional character...."
K: "Do you need an eye exam? Do I look fictional to you?
A: (Gulps) "No, ma'am, you sure aren't....fictional"
K: "Now we're getting somewhere. I've been keeping an eye on your work. You always seem to picture me in a good way, never vulgar, never outrageous, and how did you know about the various periods in history I've appeared in? Because that's exactly how I looked!"
A: "Some people tell me I have a vivid imagination."
K: "What you have is a gift. There's only a few artists that I have allowed to capture the real me in their work, and yet you have portrayed images of me that are so real they're spooky, and I've never met you before. There's far too many really BAD artists out there that have pictured me slutty and a sexual object, but you have a quality in your art that remembers I'm a sexy, sensual REAL woman that fights for justice and protects this world from the bad guys and not just some chippie to get horny over."
A: "I...just picture you in my mind as a heroine, and the art come out of my fingertips."
K: "No. You're wrong. This art is from your soul. Go ahead, get your charcoals, and I'll pose for you. And maybe I'll drop in and visit with you whenever I can, so you can get a real-life look at what your soul has been telling you to create."
A: "Do you know...you're even more exquisite than I could have ever imagined?"
K: (blushes and says softly) "Thank you. Oh, stop trying to butter me up! Now, start creating! I gotta jet!"
Her artist finishes his preliminary sketch, Karen comes over and inspects it. "Hmm. Not bad." She softly kisses her artist, and touches his surprised face. "Keep up the good work, sweetie. I'll be back to see you again, from time to time. Now, be a gentleman and don't stare at my cute little backside when I leave." And with a "whoosh" she flies away to the heavens, leaving a dumbfounded artist wondering whether this was all a dream. It was only then he saw the "Thank You" burned into the corner of her portrait sketch with her heat vision.

Gettin' harder to come up with stuff. Plus, spent most of the winter reading books. "PL&S" was a try at a different sort of rendering.
