A while back, I'd asked if Sensiblecat wouldn't mind me drawing something from the Doctor's Diary series. She agreed and I went on my merry way.And then I started reading "The Time Traveller's Wife," which plays an important role in chapter 2... and I think my heart broke all over again.
So... I'm saying that this is inspired by the first two "Doctor's Diary" chapters.
It's a bit different from my usual fare, in that it's... not exactly realism, not exactly cartoony, and definitely not what I had expected to draw when I sat down this week. Funny, the things your hands do.
Writing in the background are quotes from "The Time Traveller's Wife" and are also quoted in chapter 2 of Sensiblecat's "The Doctor's Diary."

I got my sister The Time Traveller's Wife for Christmas a while back and read half of it before ever giving it to her. The premise was fascinating, and I really liked what I read.
I've kinda been put off of Ten/Rose lately (I'm more of an Old Skool fan now anyway, despite David Tennant's hawtness), but this is nice. I really like how Ten and Rose actually LOOK like DT and BP, and I also like how the only parts you shaded was their skin. It gives it a neat quality.

It's weird what inspires different people. This particular artwork was done for a friend's fic, and she somehow made certain lines from Time Traveller's Wife work perfectly as dialog of sorts between Ten/Rose. Heartbreaking.
Old Skool is so much fun, I do admit. I'm just a sucker for how much FUN Ten/Rose were for me. They were like... two kids together, enjoying the treats and the tricks the universe has to offer. I'm sure that earns me a place in the "omg you're one of THOSE shippers" category, but ah well. At least I'm having fun while being insane?

Oh god this is beautiful. The colours are muted and fit the piece perfectly. I love the fact that the only shading there, is on their hands and faces, it works so well. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful.

you know the time travellers wife was a starting point for doomsday's beach scene. Whats the quote erm...something olong the lines of women waiting by the sea to watch the men the love come back to them. I think its at the end, haven't read it in ages though
