Description
Hello Friends,New widescreen monitor Wallie
First, I would request u kindly full view as in small view, u cant see the bruchwork I done to the sky.
Generated : Terragen, texturesd planet added, brushworked sky
BTW,
Most delicious part :
Story
One day in 2542AD, an intergalactic spaceship was travelling in space with fuel and food running out. They had to find a planet to land on. But the navigtor onboard the spaceship was a bit of an @$$h0I( , he landed the spaceship on a planet with weird sharp terrain, and the planet rotates so fast that its hills are bent, and the spaceship was damaged when it hit those hills, and they could take off the planet again. tehy were d00med! they all used bad words to scold the navigator . They were hoping against hope that some space ship would come and rescue them
P.s hope u likes the deviation as well as the story, btw, generating overhang is no big deal . I dont know why some software promotes their software using 'overhang capability' as something cool? Even terragen can render overhang, if at all anyone is interested I can tell u how to do it, but u will have to give me some time too
Thanks, Swaroop
Full View please!

This is BEAUTIFUL!
Reminds me a bit of Gears of War but less produced land (sans buildings etc).
I like it. :thumb18477471:

Great render! You use empty space very well.
I think they brag about overhanging because it's not normal with heightmap renderers...as they only really work from the top down, they can't see under overhangs, if you catch what I'm talking about.
Mind if I give a suggestion, though? I think if you switched your software (I'm not sure if you can because I'm not sure what software you're using) to use 16bit brightness levels, you'd reduce the banding in the atmosphere.
Great render, though.

That is some INCREDIBLE detail! It must've taken hours to get it the way you wanted it! I love that sky, I really do.

I like this. Although it is an original concept, it reminds me of Crematoria in the movie, The Cjronicles of Riddick. A fav!

Not only beautifully rendered sky my friend, but the piece itself is so cool!
It doesn't look static due to the skew to the right, and this is just awesome!
SWAROOP HITS AGAIN!
gotta fav it man!

It's funny, it looks in some ways like you created the overhang by rotating it a bit to the right, but then when looking at the way the land is textured, it doesn't seem possible.
But the more I look at it, it does look like that's how you got that effect.
Anyways, enough of my random ranting. Awesome job!

wow this is amazing, very detailed. what did you do with it? it looks almost like a painting but way too detailed and good, so most likely computer stuff.

I don't know if anyone said this before, and I don't think anyone did because it's way too nerdy
if a planet rotates really fast, and in makes the terrain change shape, then the points would be directly outward. just plain straight upwards NOT LIKE THIS! aargh
but let's just ignore it.. it totally ruins the story

and the moon

Very awesome. I can probably guess how you did that.....Is it an optical trick? It looks a little like you banked the camera.
Still, very nice! At first, I thought it was from a beta of TGD. This is absolutely a for me.

I don't mean to be a dick and I never really want to be an asshole about things like this, but I seriously have no idea why this is getting so many favorites. I'll admit that I don't really like terragen all that much, but seriosuly, there are a giant's handfull of terragen peices that look 100's of times better than this. This looks too ... fake. The moon/planet however is probably the best part, and it looks very realistic in comparison. My advice would be to work out from the moon, as it is more believible and the rest is not, try to have the rest of the picture rival it. Sorry if I offended anyone by being a bit critical, but if I wasn't I wouldn't be much help to anyone. Blah blah blah I suck too, I know, but one of the reasons I quit uploading to dA was the endless amount of asskissing comments without any real content.

Great work mate! That is one of the most realistic pieces of art that I have ever seen. I love looking at that. Luckily, I have just purchased a computer that has a 15.4" Widescreen with HD colors. What luck to be able to see your art in this screen. Keep up the awesome work man!

theres already a good overhang tutorial, theres a link to it in one of blackheart's journals
this is very cool though, i like the textures, brushwork, and story. the planet's shadow should probably be a bit darker, but its ok i guess.
nice job

make a terrain with a sloping gradient, and on that gradient, add hills, and then , tilt camera
