Description
Hello,I have recently developed an intense interest in matte paintings (a form of digital art which involves photomanips, brushworking, some 3d components and everything, in fact , matte painting is what makes movies like LOTR look awesome).
So, this one,
"Taj in the Indian Summer"
Taj Mahal is a monument built by an Indian King Shah Jahan as a memorial for his beloved wife Mumtaz who died prematurely. Though the Taj looks awesome, made totally out of white marble, and it sits in the shore of the majestic Yamuna river, its construction was pure controversy.
Shah Jahan is said to have cut off the hands of all workers involved in the construction of Taj so as to prevent them building something as beautiful as it again.
Then, the Shah Jahan plundered the empire's resources and treasury, just to build this Tomb of Mumtaz, other wise known as 'Taj Mahal'.
Then, ofcourse he was overthrown and then was locked up in a huge tower till he died.
History is fascinating isnt it!!!
Currently, the Taj's white marble is turning yellow due to slow acid attack from industrial fumes
Even today, Taj , on full-moon nights, is allowed to illuminate only in moonlight. . .awesome isnt it? Rumors exist Ghost of Mumtaz lingers there
Photos from my family album, (Taj, Agra, near Delhi, North India , 2004)
Scenery , rights free stock
And about the title,
Taj before the tempest,
summer tempests are common in India.. . . a sunny afternoon, has a climax in a thunderous evening.. . blissful, . . provided you are indoors

FRom the angle and feeling I get it looks like a shot from Far-Cry. Gona sneek in and jack some thousand year old artifact, then get out past a torrent of mercinaries and bio-experiments. Oh yeah.

Nice job! I wish I could go visit that place, it looks so calm and pretty in that picture. I don't even know what kind of alterations were done to the photo...I mean, it just looks so real! xD

That building looks so strange to me. I've never gotten to see it up close. ...I know that the guy really loved that wife though. Nice shot.

And you say you've only recently started doing these? It is awesome - the contrast and tones of the colours convey beautifully the feeling of apprehension and inevitability. Liked the history too.
