Just a shading step-by-step thingy....lolNot very detailed, but it might give you an idea.XD
The program I use: Easy Paint Tool SAI
This is basicly what I do:
1. Butt ugly Sketch.
2. Clean lineart.
3. Flat colors.
4. Some basic shading.
5. Lighting.
6. Some darker shading.(using the marker tool)
7. Added shine to eyes and other shiny stuff.

I'm going to remake Sonic and see the results here, while I'm remaking him, I'll try to create a Sonic form or anything.

The blur tool is very good for blending colors, thats what I use.^^

That looks pretty cool. I've been wanting to try a colouring method like that for a long time now. I think this might help.
