Description
I was walking along the shore of the beach, captivated by the sound of the waves as they crashed against the earth. The sun beat down gently on me as I walked barefoot in the sand. The reason for my trip along the beach? To see Steven of course!
A few weeks ago, he told me that the gems had encountered a new gem from Homeworld known as Peridot. They have had conflicts with her recently, one of which resulted in a near-deadly situation involving a huge fusion.
I figured I might as well visit Steven to see how things are going since there are no more weird alien shenanigans going on.
>Meanwhile<
"Oh my gosh!" Steven exclaimed. "You're so...cute!"
Peridot now stood in the Burning Room...only much shorter than when she was captured.
"My limb enhancers! Where are my limb enhancers?!" Peridot exclaims.
Steven walked around her, seeing how short the gem really was.
"Aw, you're like an angry little slice of pie!" Steven said in awe of Peridot's cuteness.
(We all know what happens from there.)
>Reader's POV<
When I arrived at Steven's house, I saw Garnet and Pearl standing inside right in front of the door. Pearl had a spear in her hands, and Garnet had gauntlets on. What's going on?
I knocked on the door, getting their attention. Pearl opened the door for me.
"O-oh, (Y/N) what a surprise!" Pearl stammered.
I smiled, waving up at her.
"Hi Pearl, I just came to see what was going..."
I looked behind Pearl to find a small green gem. She had a short stature; probably around my height. I may be a bit taller since I am 4'5.5". This gem had tetrahedral shaped light green-yellow hair. Sitting on her forehead was a beautiful, triangular green gem.
I walked over to her to get a closer look at the beautiful gem. There was something about her I loved. Her gem? Her height? Her eyes? Could be all of them. My heart was beating like crazy, threatening to leap from my chest.
"(Y/N) wait!" Pearl warned, but I ignored her advice.
"No (Y/N) she's dangerous!" I heard Pearl start running toward me.
"Hold on Pearl," Garnet said, grabbing onto Pearl to prevent her from moving.
I felt as if there was nothing else in the world except for me and this mystery gem in front of me. She was my focus.
Once I got close enough, I stopped. She hadn't move a bit when I advanced towards her.
"H-hi," I said, trying to make conversation.
The gem flinched and backed away. She turned on her heel very quickly, running into the bathroom.
"Peridot!" I heard Garnet exclaim.
The three gems ran over to the bathroom door, banging their fists against the door. I walked over and stood behind them. Steven came over and stood beside me; we watched the gems try to convince the little gem to come out.
By what Garnet said, that gem seems to be Peridot.
"Was that Peridot?" I asked Steven.
"Yeah..."
Amethyst, Garnet and Pearl were trying to figure out how Peridot escaped her 'bubble'. Did they capture her? Seems like it.
"Steven, how did she escape?" I asked him.
"...I did it," he said, walking louder than we thought.
Pearl, Amethyst, and Garnet looked back at us in shock.
"Steven, how could you do such a thing?!" Pearl exclaimed.
Before Steven could explain himself, Garnet stepped up. She came up behind me and laid her hands on my shoulders.
"First, we should make sure that (Y/N) goes home. She shouldn't be around to hear this conversation."
I looked up at her, startled. I wanted to help the gems, and try to get closer to this Peridot. She looked like a very interesting...being...that I could relate to, and not just because of our short height.
Before I could speak, Garnet walked me out the door. I walked out in disappointment.
"Come back tonight. The door will be unlocked. Besides, Steven is a heavy sleeper as long as you're quiet."
I smiled up at Garnet, hugging her leg.
"Thank you so much, Garnet!"
I ran down the stairs and through the water. I got home in less than ten minutes.
Later that night, I snuck out of bed, heading downstairs to the front door. Once I left my house, I began my trek across the beach to the house. Climbing up the stairs, I slowly opened the door. It was dark inside, but I still knew my way around the simple house. I looked over at the bathroom to see the light was not on. I walked over slowly and quietly before knocking gently on the door. I heard an "eep" come from the other side of the door.
"What do you want, you clods?" I heard Peridot speak.
"Um...I'm not a clod," I whispered, hoping she would hear me.
"Oh. It's you; that human who approached me yesterday."
She didn't sound too pleased to hear my presence. Her voice harbored annoyance and anger.
"Do you want me to leave?" I asked hesitantly, hoping to not piss her off even more.
"N-no no...here."
I heard the door unlock. Guess she wants me to come in.
Hesitantly, I turned the knob and pushed the door open. I could see Peridot sitting by the window, wrapped up in the shower curtain. She really did look adorable.
"Can I turn on the light?" I asked.
There was no oral response, but I could faintly see her nod her head.
I turned the light on, after making sure the door was closed, of course, and walked over to Peridot. Kneeling down in front of her, I noticed she was holding what looked like a metal boot.
"What's that in your hands?" I asked.
"A part of my limb enhancer, not that you would know anything about that."
I felt a shiver at how cold her words sounded. She glared at me with those green eyes. I knew she was trying to display hostility, but she was too cute. I just smiled.
"Why are you giving me that look?"
I giggled. "Because you're cute," I said.
She smacked me on the head. It stung a bit, surprisingly.
"Ow!"
"That's what you get for calling me 'cute'!"
"But it's true!" I argued. She just groaned.
She looked down at the floor; seeming to think about something.
"How does a human like you know those clods?" she asked.
"Clods? Oh! You mean the Crystal Gems? I've known Steven for a few months, and I met them a little after meeting Steven...although that was an accident."
"Of course it was an accident. Humans are too primitive to understand a race like gems," she said.
I felt hurt, very hurt. Did she mean to suggest we humans were like insects; something so irrelevant to gems? Just the thought of having a worthless existence made me think of how I felt about myself. My small stature made me feel irrelevant, unimportant to everyone else.
I felt tears gather in my eyes, some falling down my face. I wiped them away angrily.
Peridot looked up at me, surprised to see the tears.
"W-what are you doing now?!"
I couldn't respond. My tears and sniffling prevented my voice from being spoken. My whimpers turned into sobs. I collapsed on the floor, crying. I held my hands up to my eyes, trying to fight the tears, but it couldn't be stopped.
"Hey." I looked up at Peridot.
"I...um...I didn't mean what I said in that way. It's just that...humans...um..."
I looked at her, eager to hear some kind of apology. But she kept on hesitating.
"I get it," I whispered. "You don't understand us, so you think that humans are beneath you. That's not the case though. We're like you; we're trying to survive and be happy. We may not be the best, but no race is perfect. Not even gems."
I stood up and hugged Peridot.
"I know you're hurt in some way, as well."
Without giving a second thought, I kissed her. My heart sped up and my breathing intensified. I kept my eyes shut as I worked harder to not separate from her cold lips. I could tell she was in a state of shock. She was really stiff, and her lips didn't respond or even acknowledge mine. However, after a few minutes, Peridot came around. Her body relaxed, and she kissed me back.
"Perhaps humans aren't as primitive as I thought."
Peridot and you grew a healthy relationship, revolving around teaching her more about Earth and your culture. She became infatuated with video games and computers, as well as you.
"Earth isn't that bad."
