No, it was not. Does this picture show any hint of offense?

If you made it to show your so-called "support" for some tragic event, it's offensive.

"So-called 'support'"? This isn't about support, it's to pay a tribute, support has nothing to do with this!

Even then, it's offensive. You don't need to bring Hetalia into every tragic event that happens, because it's offensive and one of the many reasons the Hetalia fandom is hated.

Ok before this goes farther. If you don't like what Annabethcat is saying, ignore it. It's an opinion and we are all intitled to our own opinion even if you don't like it.

She wasn't rude about it. She simply stated how it was offensive to her because people really do associate hetalia with a lot of events that it shouldn't be associated with. If someone did something about America and the Boston Marathon, I wouldn't want to see it either. Associating a comedic anime with real life events bugs me too.

Her comments say otherwise, actually. People can actually recreate events with Hetalia, the most I've seen through literature, and make the mood somber. People can make Hetalia somber through their works without making them posing any offense even without trying. Besides, I've read one literary work about the Boston Marathon, and it was somber, and nobody was offended by it, neither should Annabethcat.

Now see? There is your opinion on it. I said my opinion, you said yours. I'm not going to argue with you because that's what you think. I still believe certain events should not be re-created with Hetalia. But hey, everyone has different thoughts, right? You might not agree with it, but you don't have to argue to try to prove your opinion is the only correct one.

It is also common knowledge you are being offensive. You are saying we are not true hetalia fans because we do not like one piece of fanart. In actual terms, a "fandom" is a group of people who like a show. Not just the fan fics or fanart or whatever.
Now, I am not saying I don't like the art portion of this. The posing on the model is great. And the editing is fantastic.
But I don't like the theme of it.

1. It was an actual event which caused death of others and was quite recent
2. Its fucking rude to bring hetalia into everything. Like wow you see a map and "SQUEEE HETALIA!!!" Yeah ahaha no.
3. I live in the state in which this happened and one of my friends used to go to that school.
4. CHILDREN. DIED. Okay yeah, You gotta think parents would not appreciate this, like oh wow they're going to show vigil with a FICTIONAL CHARACTER REPRESENTING A COUNTRY?? Thats rude. Really rude. They'd be very disappointed.
5. It makes the fandom hated.

You're right, you're only an insane freak finding tributes to tragic events made into picture form offensive. Besides, you're the one who's rude yourself, so your reply to me is hypocritical.

It does too show respect. If you ask me, I don't think you care about the Sandy Hook massacre. You don't care about the little ones who were mercilessly killed by a man who is mentally ill. You think that this topic is so overrated that you had to diss on it. If you ask me, I don' think you are a true Hetalia fan at all.

1. We all know it's an actual event, we're not that stupid.
2. No, it's not rude. We can't help if Hetalia warps our minds when it comes to history and geography.
3. No comment.
4. We. Know. We're NOT that stupid. It's only up to the parents if they like it or not, you can't express their opinions on your own, you know. People use Hetalia characters for any events that occurred in history, including this. It does NOT glorify the most tragic events, namely the Sandy Hook Massacre, in any way. It only symbolizes this event. And it's not just that: Remember the Japan earthquake of March 2010 (I'm gonna use that as an example)? People make artworks of Japan alone or Japan with a group of friends, though the concept of all times is to tell Japan to "Stay strong." Now was that rude? No, and neither does this pic as well as the others look it. So piss off, hater.
5. You haters always make the fandom hated. Nothing but learning-disabled hypocrites.
Plus, there is not need to get butthurt over fanart representing a tragic event, so piss off, drama queen.

1. Yeah no shit sherlock everyone does
2. Actually its pretty fucking annoying when you folks walk into a holocaust museum and start saying shit about hetalia.
3. ahaha you dont care.
4. Parents would be upset, it would trigger them. And that art about the earthquake was fucking offensive too
5. And excuse me? I love this fandom too. Parts of it at least :/ and I am not learning disabled, in a matter of fact I have all As right now. I also have been doing a part time job were i have to read a 54 page manuscript and take a test knowing you know all the shit, guess what. I got a 100%.
and i have my reasons too. making fanart about hitler, you know someone in my family was killed by him?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
pokemonsonicgirl123 In reply to Annabethcat [2013-06-13 01:29:17 +0000 UTC]
2. You could just at least ignore them.
4. Whether or not they should be is up to them, and only up to them, dumbass. Besides, about the earthquake example, it's to show tribute and give honor and respect to those who those who were killed during the quake, which is in picture form. And if you think you're going to report it, the staff will read it as false and you'll get banned or suspended in a heartbeat.
5. Nobody gives two shits about your grades or your life offline.
Making fanart of Hitler? Nobody would ever do that, and I very much doubt if anybody would ever will. And I don't care if one of your family members was killed by him, all I'm saying that you shouldn't get butthurt over every piece of work that is in tribute to some event. If you call yourself a Hetalia fan, then you shouldn't be dissing on this piece of work and acting butthurt all about it at the same time. You'll stir up scorn from other fellow fans in the process. The person who made this is a Hetalia fan who, like any other fan, would use that concept in events like this, the only exception presumably the Holocaust.

2. You think i can ignore shit like that??? Look hun, I'm from way up north italy and half of my family died while trying to get information from the germans.
4. You really can't control a trigger, trust me hun. I'm triggered by camping. My best friend died on a camping trip. When ever I see something related to the subject I have flashbacks and sometimes even have to go to the hospital. And thats bullshit I wouldn't report it, I'd just try pushing some sense into people.
5. Ahaha you really think so??? I'd tell you one thing, lots of people do.
Yeah people have. Yeah so you're also saying you dont care that people died during the war huh? And i have a reason to. Its rude and offensive. And the only fans I'll stir up are other people like me who think this is fucking rude.
And I am very proud to say I am a hetalia fan but i do not tolerate bullshit like this thank you very much. I've been in the fandom for 4 years now. And you may think I'm a little uptight, but I have a reason to.

Tributes are never bullshit. There's three words for that and it's butthurt, prejudice, and stereotyping. You're butthurt over this piece of work and prejudging this as offensive and stereotyping this artist as a rabid Hetalia fan. True Hetalia fans bring this into many different things, they harbor no offense whatsoever. From what you're saying, it is hypocritical.

1. Who said anything about me giving up?
2. Report this work for being "offensive" if you wish, the dA staff would see that as false.
3. Why do I get the feeling that you're completely missing the point. If you consider yourself a Hetalia fan, then you shouldn't be calling tributes to certain events with Hetalia in it "offensive." People are gonna see that you are anti-Hetalian. Call yourself a "true Hetalia fan" all you want, people are gonna clearly see that you're not judging from this comment you made.
