Description
it feels so nice to be uploading to the traditional category!okay so I don't often post fanart but the recent Powerpuff Girls marathon on CN made me remember how much I love that show. D: and used to draw the Girls all the time hahahah. I doodled a bit with some peeps last night and omg I can still quote lines from the old episodes. xDDD
I think it's a testament to how obsessed I was with the PPG that I didn't use reference for Mojo's costume. o-o Also that is the first proper Mojo I have drawn like... ever. I drew the Girls all the time back in the day but not really anyone else - I ought to get into that. >.>
I think I've got over my fear of markers, I seem to love them now. YAY

I loved PPG and I love how you've captured each character's essence, here. Kudos on remembering Mojo's outfit, too; he was always my favorite villain

For some reason, the Powerpuff girls does remind me of some of your stylings at times. Mainly the uber cute sketches you do on occasions.

That's really funny, since I think the PPG style is a lot more graphic and less organic than mine. Still, I do like dem big eyes.

Hehe, the PPG was made so be animated simply and cheaply so that difference makes self.

the Power Puff Girls!
I was obsessed with them, particularly Buttercup (I was Buttercup, my younger sister Bubbles, my youngest sister Blossom). I used to drawn them all the time, and even draw myself in stories as a PPG. And Oh! if someone called them the "Powder puff girls" x_x
I saw an episode the other day, about Elmer eating paste and Buttercup picking on him... funny to think how after "all these" years I can remember episodes so clearly.
That, and Courage the Cowardly Dog.

Glad I could bring back all those memories!! I miss the old days of CARTOON CARTOONS.
Blossom is pretty much the reason pink is my signature colour, that is probably sad. xD

OHGOODNESS I loved this show so much as well! I used to be the hugest PPG fan. 8D You draw the girls (and Mojo) so well, they look very much like themselves but with an extra bit of your flair in there as well It almost reminds me of that more stretchy style when they were still known as the Whoopass Girls - more long-limbed and cartoony!

:3 omg yeaaaahhh. it was awesome I guess to see that you could be 'girly' and kick butt at the same time, I loved that! Blossom is pretty much the reason I love pink, I dunno whether that is sad or not. x_x;
I'm glad you can see my personal touch in there! The great thing about all the villains is they lend themselves so well to interpretation. Thanks muchly!

That's so cute! I love all the different poses and simple backgrounds. I think I might have liked the show when I was younger; but not much or for very long. I grew out of cartoons very quickly... XD I love animation; but the cartoons on TV aren't really my thing. I prefer... y'know, like disney movies? The 2D ones? Yeah. The Lion King's one of my favourites, so is the Fox and the Hound.
I love Buttercup's pout on this. XD It's just... LAWL.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I love all sorts of animation, I always find something to appreciate no matter what sort of style it's in. Watching these old shows is actually really interesting because as an adult I enjoy a lot more things about it, since a lot of those shows pack in references that would fly over kids heads but that adults would get - it's what makes them so impressive to me. (plus, as an animator, I can say I'm 'studying' - hah! xD) But there actually aren't a lot of animated tv shows on right now that I enjoy. x_x I think the heyday of CN and Nick is long gone, sadly. D:
I'm glad you enjoy these, thanks. <3 And Buttercup is awesome, I ought to draw more fanart of her. D|

Disney movies are awesome. The old ones at least. I'm... not a very big fan of 3D animation. I know, I know, it's still animation; but I prefer 2D. XD

Well, that's why I chose to study it in college. x3 To me, no magic compares to a drawing coming to life and there's a special beauty there that no computer will ever be able to capture no matter how sophisticated the technology gets.
There are some 3D movies I enjoy very much, but it's not really my thing. :3

Tempestspirit In reply to swift-whippet [2009-01-25 14:56:33 +0000 UTC]
X3 I absolutely agree... it's the same even in things like lineart- there's something about digital lineart that just takes away some of the picture's life, to me. Too clean.
Yeah, like Wall-E? Did you ever watch it? That was absolutely fantastic.

swift-whippet In reply to Tempestspirit [2009-01-25 20:20:18 +0000 UTC]
Yes I did, and I got the special edition dvd for Christmas. x3 I thought it was pretty incredible. Some people have complained about it being 'reachy' but even though it obviously had a message it didn't come across as preachy to me at all. Plus I thought it was more so about human nature, communication, and our relationship with technology rather than just a generic 'save the environment' message - there were so many layers to that movie. Pretty amazing.

Tempestspirit In reply to swift-whippet [2009-01-26 02:22:21 +0000 UTC]
Preachy? I never found it preachy at all. I agree... it went in really deep, unlike so many of the more shallow movies nowadays- like "HERO GETS SEPERATED FROM FAMILY. HERO GOES ON LONG BRAVE JOURNEY TO FIND FAMILY. HERO LEARNS MEANING OF LIFE.".
Seeing it really chilled me though. The fact that its message was so very real.
And Wall-E's so CUTE. I love the scene when he finds that paddle-ball... thing XD Poor little dude.
