Whee, dogwingness!
It's ~tjgirLi 's dogwing, Mukai, with my Jaieyn, because I said I would. Yups. And because dogwings are cool and there haven't been any new ones for quite a bit.The background was originally going to be a generic happy blue sky with puffy white cumulus floating past. But somehow it morphed into something a bit more dramatic.. and I like it this way. I need more tone practice anyway..

Mrr...Now this is a lovely thing to see after just switching on the comp. Also pretty amazing, I mean I have -never- seen any other artist on here try such a tricky light source. You've done it so superbly, you keep their coat colours intact not darkening it too much but the contrast is just so startling and unusual. Such exuberant expressions and poses; they really suit the whole feeling of the piece. And the wings....I want to GROW a pair. The white ones are so delicate and fair-like.
HOW do you continue to improve I didn't think it was possible girly!!!!! BUt its a stunning process to watch as my jaw continues to get closer to the floor. I just have to say it...its been eating away at me:

Loving how you draw canids, Swift, and thier sweet little paws and joyful expressions. I also like how you did the bright neon-green highlights of thier fur, it makes em look really 3D. Plus, thier eyeshapes are just...eiee! Sweet! <3 I like eyes, so yeah. ^^

Actually those aren't highlights.. more like their base colours.. I flat-coloured them their 'normal' (ie white-light) colours first and then shaded in low opacity with that dark blue to do the shadows

The glowy effect of the lighting is quite cool, as is the simple beauty of the entire composition. Mmm, love.

Animation classes rawk so hard. Make me even more excited to further my dreams of keeping 2D alive. (screw eisner.. 2D IS alive and it'll stay that way as long as there are artists in the world, by goodness! er.. ahem.)
And as to the lighting.. neither, tee. I simply created a new layer with opacity set to lower and shaded in the dogs with dark blue to match the background lighting. I use that technique quite a bit.. thanks muchly

Eee!!! Yay for dogwings (I need to do more pics of mine....)!! Anyways, I love their expressions and everything! The lighting is awesome and gives you a sort of floaty feeling when it's sifted through the clouds. I absolutely love your character, Swifty! The wing design is so unique and the colors are beautiful! Very nice job with this one, buddy!
p.s. - i saw The Land Before Time IV on tv a few days ago hehe! It wasn't as good as I and II, but i enjoyed the songs and the animation wasn't half bad. The storyline is sort of odd, but what the heck--its a sequel!! hehe!

LBT IV is the one with the golden flowers, right? Yeah, I watched that too.. it was cute. heh. I lost track after VI o.o I think they're up to IX now.. though I doubt I'd want to watch any more of the sequels, they started ruining the originals for me after V :\

Yeah golden flowers! lol! Its also the one with Aly and the mean alligator-crocodile thing and the bird who acts as her eyes. Yeah the sequels were starting to become too much. My favorites so far have been I and II cause they're completely awesome! But i do like the song that Aly sings in IV near the end kinda

er...she's in my icon. My vet suggested she was a Carolina Dog also known as the American Dingo...but others claim she's a shepherd/chow cross. Her parents are unknown, so it's really hard to tell.
