After my border collie spurt, I once again return to my conclusion that my favourite breeds of dog don't get enough love.For those of you who love your shepherds and your retrievers and your huskies, kudos to you! It must be great to fancy a breed that is so beloved by the world and has such a large following in art as well.
...but, you can keep 'em. Here's my own celebration of the dogs I love, private unless someone wants to join me. You'll be more than welcome

Do you have any sighthound breeds as pets? I would loooooooove to have a Whippet, Borzoi, Greyhound, Silken, or Iggy, but I've got a Chihuahua. I'm just glad I have a dog, really, because our chance to adopt a hypo-allergenic dog was basically a miracle. XD (My mother is allergic to dogs.)
Still, I wish I saw more sighthounds in my neighborhood.

My family has an IG and that's the dog I grew up with, though I don't live with them at this point. She's going on 16 now and starting to get feeble :\
My dream dog would be a whippet from a good breeder, but I'd also like to rescue a racing grey and my first dog that I get on my own will likely be a rescue IG. I actually quite like Chis too, my boyfriend's family has one and he is the sweetest thing! I'm starting to see more sighthounds walking around in NYC now that the weather is warmer, hahah!

You draw one of the most charming canines I have ever seen on DA! They're a delightful mix of 'cartoon-look' and 'realistic-look', which is just totally awesome. Not like some other styles which look too Balto-ish or sorta like that lol
But what I love most are thier eyes! Golly they're so....big! Aieee! Big and orb-like, and so dang cute! I love the slim and elegant muzzles as well, and I like how you drew em as if they're all trying to get some of the camera to look at em. lol ^^

Aww, thanks! I actually started out pretty All dogs Go To Heaven/Balto inspired because of what I saw onscreen, then as I began to study real dogs' facial structure and anatomy better the realistic elements kind of implemented themselves. Your style changes the more you draw and branch out, you know?

Yeah, I do my lineart on computer with tablet unless otherwise stated. My tablet is all I have to work with in college now since I have no scanner of my own in my dorm xP

Sighthounds are sexy as hella.. <3
I'm lucky because I own a sighthound and a BC. - That's if you'd class a lurcher as a sighthound and not just tons of crosses.. xD
But yeah, lovely piccy, but I personally still prefer Collies, it worries me when I see dogs with their ribs on show.. sad, I know, but they're still sexy and so damn cute looking!
Hehe, my Lurcher, Annie is crazy.. she's so energetic it's like - Wow!
Our collie is just like sleep, sleep and Annie is always running around or going crazy.. but then she is a puppy I guess..

Lurchers are still sighthounds to me! Even if just partly, heh. Though I guess it would also depend if the sighthound bloodlines in the were strong enough to give them that chase-first-ask-questions-later quality that's quintessential sighthound.
Yeah, as I said I got nothing with people who prefer collies.. I just like to see my favourite dogs in the limelight for a change ;3
Puppies tend to be hyper in general, haha! I know my doggie was when she was younger.. now she's nine years old and all mellow and quiet

Hehe, well we figure she's got more sighthound in her since she seems to have more of a whippet face on her.. =3
That and she's one of the fastest dogs I know.. but then again all of my Collies have been lazy or overweight, my old one, Girlie was waaay too skinny when we rescued her so we fed her up, then people wouldn't stop and she got some doggy pudge.. xP
My current Collie, Bow is just pure lazy, she gets in a mood with our Lurcher, Annie whenever she just hints at being ready to play.
Heh, then again, Bow used to be really jumpy and 'wow' when we got her, she was only about a year old.. so I'm sure Annie will settle down soon! ^^

Yeah.. puppies are hyper in general. Though Border Collies supposedly have higher energy levels than most dog breeds being bred for herding, but there're exceptions to every rule

What's a sighthound?

As it's name suggests, it's a dog that hunts mainly with its eyes instead of with its nose. They're built to run really fast and kill prey quickly, so they're really aerodynamic, and agile in some cases. Greyhounds, Whippets, Italian Greyhounds, Borzoi, Salukis, Afghan hounds, Irish Wolfhounds and more all belong to the Sighthound family.

Sighthounds are the absolute best dogs, I swear. They're so free-spirited and have such a refined beauty about them. ^.^
Basenjis are definately my favorite, even though they're kinda half sight-half scent. Tied for second are greyhounds and whippets, then salukis at third, and so on.
I wish I could do brindle like that. Everything you draw is always so beautiful.

That's like our older dog. He's the family do. It took a long time for my parents to trust me enough to get a puppy and then the puppy came at us all of a sudden when my friend's dog had puppies and they had a leftover pup in need of a home. He was five months when we got him and his brothers had all gotten homes by the time they were three months.
Greyhounds are love.
