They do look like that. In fact, many models avoid the smile. A good looking smile is exceedingly hard to do. Most models, even supermodels, prefer a look that is nearly a scowl. It's a lot easier to pull off.

A genuine stern look is a lot easier to make then a genuine looking smile. Even the supermodels generally go with the stern looks. Some will not smile unless you tell a joke or something which forces a smile. If you try it in the mirror, you'll see what I mean. It's easy to try a smile and come out with a fake looking smile. I have some where they are goofing around or throwing water on one another and they are smiling.
